Pros:

- Extremely hilly terrain combined with diverse wooded areas makes for a extremely wide variety of holes. Almost any combination of uphill/downfill, heavily wooded to open, and left/straight/right shots are present here.
- Elevation changes on the fairways and greens demand a controlled shot to keep in play. Great risk/reward factor on many holes. Most notably, the creek on 15 and 16 that uses gravity to suck discs from just inches off the fairway, and deep wooded valleys.
- A little more water is on the back end, but is not a major hazard. Pleasing to look at, though.
- Long, sloping upshots and downshots especially reward a well thrown disc. This helps to keep the open holes interesting as well.

Cons:

- Some holes are pretty close to the road, but a good shot will easily avoid it.
- Even with the elevation changes, a lot of similar open holes on the back end.

Other Thoughts:

- I was lucky enough to have a tour guide to show me around on my first round, which was an extreme, extreme help. I think it might be a little tricky to navigate on some parts, but nothing too bad.
- I recommend that you are in decent shape to play this course. If you don't think you can go hiking, you might not enjoy this course. I speak from experience, as I was out of shape when I played, and almost had to skip the last hole!

Bank on Links at Banklick Lincoln 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 4, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Truly first class course. All the amenities are here. Concrete tees, signage, bathrooms, Info, perfectly manicured course from the fields into the woods. Quiet park of rolling hills, woods landscaped and natural beauty that sets an amazing backdrop for disc golf. Almost feels like an actual golf course moreso than a park at times. From the initial dive down the hill into the woods to the finishing blasts across the bluegrass fields there are visual treats that not only provide scenery they simultaneously add challenge. Such as the pond in play on holes 21 and 24. The wide stream that cuts a deep gorge along holes 14,15,and 16. The bluegrass hills of 12,22, and 23. Just such wonderful surroundings to play disc golf in. There are some very memorable holes. Highlights for me were as follows:
1-start out with a healthy dive down a sloping green hill into the woods below to start your day
4-ace run across a wooded but reasonable valley fairway
5-wonderful hyzer downwards into the forrest
6-complementary uphill anhyzer through woods
7-floater wooded ace run with fast pitched green
8-perfect woods blind hyzer fairway..just trust it
14-from the field and suddenly straight down to a fast hillside with the basket perched in such a way that floaters if not thrown precisely will land in the stream at the base of the valley
15-slightly uphill shot that requires you to stay on a 12 foot wide path with a bank rising left and a cliff descending right into the streambed 20 feet below. Errant shots here get punished 2x as your oob and have to shoot back up the cliff to be playing fairway....difficult but rewarding holes.
18-wonderful shot through window and over a steep valley. Hit a tree early and your doomed..hit it right and its a birdie run.
20-exhilerating open shot downhill and through a gap in trees to a basket rising back up the other side of the slim woodline. Another birdie or bogey hole depending on executing that gap.
21,22,23, and 24 are all open air shots that utilize elevation and placement to keep it interesting.
There are plenty of birdie chances on this course which makes it interesting as your scorecard could see 2s and 4s rather than an abundance of 3s. An indicator of good design that rewards shotmaking. The most likeable thing for me regarding this course was the supreme maintenance which kept headaches to a minimum and the fun factor going strong all round long.

Cons:

The course has 24 holes and 18 of the holes were very strong but at times I had some deja vu. Holes 2&3 (play across grass fields into shallow woods with street oob),11,12 &13 (across open fields with little obstacles outside of wind), 15 & 16 (same terrifying shot with stream and gorge right and bank rising left) as well as some filler holes 9,17,and 19. (9 completes the first 9 loop while 17 is needed to get you to amazing hole 18 and then 19 will lead you to outstanding hole 20) Many of the holes are memorable but outside of the woods holes along the stream 14-16 I felt as if there was no really scary blow up my scorecard holes here. For a course to get into the perfection range I have to be challenged outside my comfort zone and quite frankly this amateurish player was quite comfortable most of the day. Some food for thought, most championship gold level courses are designed as 7-10,000 feet with varied terrain and elevations over 18 holes. This one squeezes 24 holes under 8,000 feet. So while it has all types of shots and plenty of fun here. Nothing is going to really challenge you or force you to attempt something beyond your abilities. I list this as a con as I think a top course should be enjoyable but at times should be overwhelming. This one is more just enjoyable than challenging. (to designers credit none of the shots felt stretched out to add pro distance or artificially challenging with gimicks to raise par)

Other Thoughts:

It's fun to watch your discs fly over those kentucky hills. Particularly enjoyed that 4 of the open shots were downhill drives. I can't help but think this might be the best course I ever played if some of the similiar holes were altered/joined/scrapped and maybe a few longer walks along with some lengthening of certain holes were redone and suddenly rather than a moderately challenging yet fun 24 hole course there could be an equally fun but very challenging 18 hole championship caliber course here. Probably the best overall course in the Cinncinatti area (gasp! blasphemy)

A true 4.5 course with a 5 neighbor 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 7, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-This park is beautifully maintained. I came to play it after several days of rain excepting very muddy footing and greatly appreciated the freshly mulched fairways, tees, and basket areas.
-Bathrooms/water available at first tee.
-Practice basket area is very large and helps to get confident with the many long putts you may be facing today.
-Tee Signs are descriptive and visually appealing.
-Concrete tee pads are long and level. A must for this course and a great feature due to the accuracy and secure footing needed for the lines your going to need to hit.
-The rolling hill fairways are beautifully used and add a lot to the scenery of this course on the more open holes.
-The wooded holes are maintained perfectly to give you a good line to play or several places to lay-up and play for par.
-Benches on many of the tees are a must and are very nicely done to give you a place to rest or wait your turn during tournament play. On some courses benches can be taken for granted not this course.
-The course is beautiful. Northern Kentucky truly appreciates its disc golf courses it shows with the beautiful forest parks it places its layouts in.
-A great mix of risk and reward for all levels of play. Rec-Int players can be aggressive on the shorter holes and play smart on the more technical holes to achieve a great score. ADV-Open players can be aggressive on every hole and truly have a great round threading the needle on perfect lines.

Cons:

-Several places in the woods are very difficult to navigate from hole to hole. While there are established trails to guide you some simple bridges or steps could really add to this course. This is one reason Idlewild is a step ahead of this course.
-This course can be difficult to navigate if you do not have a map. Several of the baskets were moved to the new layout and have the wrong number on the basket corresponding to the hole you are playing.
-Holes 22 and 23 are hard to find without a map a simple next tee sign would be a great help. They are across the road from # 24's tee.

Other Thoughts:

In summary this course is truly a 4.5 course and there are a few differences that set Idlewild above Lincoln ridge. This course has an amazing variety of shots and in many ways is a lot more rewarding to lower level players than it's highly regarded neighbor.

I like the Hole length here a lot more than I do at Mt. Airy or Idlewild. There are several short "must 2" holes as well as some risk reward 3's. The longest holes at the course are long but not long enough that a 5 is more likely than a 3. Elevation changes, wooded fairways, open rolling hills, and creeks/ponds add up to give you all you could ask for in a disc golf course. Additionally the disc golf minds that set this course up have added

Better than Idlewild? 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 26, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

EVERY hole is outstanding! There are tight shots, and grip n rips! I actually like the 'flow' of the course better than Idlewild; and the shots up the creek with the boulders some 20 feet below with a slight mist coming up gave me the feeling that hobbits were watching nearby! Great course; and the only complaint is that I have to drive 2 hours to get there...

Other Thoughts:

I'm a rec player of only a couple of years; so perhaps the pro's might better enjoy Idlewild, but for my money, this course was more fun overall. Not dissing Idlewild whatsoever, it's just that this course simply that fun!

Awesome course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 6, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

24 holes, all different (for the most part), water holes, elevation changes, trees, some open holes, perfect variety of challenges throughout the course. Tee signs made the navigation very easy. Concrete tees as well. Great course!

Cons:

Watch the creek on holes 14, 15, & 16. Sometimes they change the basket placements on some holes, but they're not too hard to find if you haven't played them yet. A sign on hole #21 pointing the direction of holes #22 & #23 would have helped as well. Other than that, it's a bit of a drive from north cincy/south dayton, but worth the trip!

Other Thoughts:

This course should definitely be in your rotation if you live within range, it never gets boring!

So close to a 5 in my book! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 24, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

1) Kiosk for information at the first tee. Garbage and benches at the first tee also a plus. There are also bathrooms available at the parking lot/1st tee area.

2) There is a practice basket with plenty of room for up to 50-75' putts. This is a nice feature especially for this course where you will likely have a bunch of longer putts to try and save par.

3) Signs have all information including Hole #, par, distance and a diagram indicateing a general flight path. The signs are also sponsored by local sponsors which is nice.

4) I may have beaten some of the park workers to work, but because it wasn't light out when I got there I had to wait to tee off. In the 30 minutes I waited I saw multiple trucks, and a golf cart with two guys driving around picking up trash and generally checking the condition of the disc golf course. Always a nice feature to have a parks department that cares for the course too.

5) Nice large concrete tee pads. This is essential on this course because of the rollng terrain and need for secure footing when trying to hit those small tunnels and land your disc in appropriate places.

6) The turf is in great condition on the openholes of this course. It was wet when I played but it was obviously they maintain the turf well. The turfed areas show the gently rolling hillsides that exemplify Kentucky.

7) The wooded holes generally have a good cover of leaves to keep the exposed soil from being slick and muddy. Many of the other trouble spots have mulch in places, specifically some green and tee areas.

8) Easy to follow routing despite minimal signage. A few places are slightly confusin and could use some directional signs, but all around not a bad layout and not to challenging to follow.

9) Nice DGA baskets, although I would rather see discatchers on this course because of being in the woods. It would help locate the basket from time to time.

10) Garbage and benches on many of the holes and they are very well done. They have not simply been slapped together, someone took their time to do them right.

11) Incredibly picturesque. I want to come back in season when the Blue grass is lush and Dark Green, the trees are fully leafed out and the stream is flowing like it was following the recent rains. I could spend all day playing disc golf and I am sure my wife could spend the whole day snapping cool natural setting pictures. I only wish I had brought my camera along for this course, even though it was winter there were still some cool pics, both disc golf related and simly nature related.

12) Some real risk/reward baskets. That is what makes this course a duece or die course. I feel like the front 9 is much easier to get dueces and threes while some of the wooded back 9 are certainly easier to 3 and 4 than any hole on the front.

13) There is an incredible variety on this course. They have wonderful elevation changes, they have a massive creek, they have some tightly wooded shots of all shapes, they have some rolling kentucky bluegrass fairways with baskets tucked ever so tightly into the edge of the woods. There are even a couple wide open holes that give you a chance to really rip it. I like Hole 24 despite being fairly wide open because it gives you a chance to really tear into a drive and really try to get a 3.

14) There are dual tees on holes 16, 19, 21 offering some different shorter looks at some of the harder holes on the course. I played the longer tees just because but I can see the shorter tee allowing for a much easier run at a 2 or possibly a simple 3.

15) This course has a very nice variety in hole length. A lot of the holes play much longer than the listed distance because of the inherent challenge in the woods. There are a few downhillers that play shorter too. Overall this course has enough length to challenge someone who has less than a 250' drive. That is what makes this a good duece or die type course. The pros better birdie a bunch of these holes to hold their own, and for a newer player 3's will still be accessible on most holes with a good approach and a putt.

16) This is some seriously solid DG on this course. The variety, the terrain, the maintenance, all create a wonderful experience.

17) Very fair course that has been very well played in. It does not require a lot of luck to do well it requires a lot of skill. This is the mark of a truly good course and I have played some good ones especially on this roadtrip.

18) There is some serious variety in shot shaping on this course. You have shots that have to be turned both ways and you also still have to consider how to land your disc flat to avoid those extreme rollaways!

Cons:

1) #1 tee area looks like a mess right now because the mulch has eroded or broken down. I am sure based upon the pictures that this is something they handle in spring, but I think the 1st tee should have a little more frequency since everyone stands around the tee creating compacted soils and breaking down the mulch quicker.

2) A few of the baskets seem to be low either from installation of the sleeve or erosion of the surrounding soils actually raising the soil level arond the baskets.

3) There are a few wet spots on this course and some simple steppers could be put in place to make this a better course. More permanent structures could also be made, but may not be necessary unless after a major rain.

4) Walk path comes into play as you play down the fairway on a few of the back 9 wooded holes.

5) The road is in play on the right of #3, but you will likely only have to deal with park workers in that corner of the park.

6) A sign to send you across the parking lot to Hole #5 would be helpful because you cannot see the tee sign from 4 basket because of the piles that the parks department has piled in the parking lot. There are a couple other spots where a sign might make the flow easier for a first timer.

7) Walk past tee #24 and cross the road to find holes #22 and 23. This is another spot a simple directional sign could be helpful.

Other Thoughts:

If this is a 4.5 course then I cannot wait to see Idlewild. I cannot give this a 5 because it is lacking a little bit of maintenance and also some amenities that take a course to the cream of the crop. I had an awesome time and obviously on purely disc golf level this is one of the best of the best, but I rate courses on everything and not just the DG experience. I ended my epic roadtrip from Milwaukee down to Florida and back through North Carolina with some incredible courses. You can only imagine how epic this trip was when you realize that this was my 4th favorite course from this road trip. That amazes me because this is a really solid course. I am so fortunate to have been able to play so many great courses and to end the trip on this course is incredible. I am looking forward to coming back to the Cincinatti area to play this course again and Idlewild.

Pros:

What an awesome course!! Played this one after idlewild...this one was superior.

Great mix of fairways...from wide open "rippers" to tight technical woods shots.

Love the water hazards...

Played the last few holes "glow" even though we had never played there before...very well laid out and easy to navigate.

Cons:

Be careful of the steep hills! Can be very slippery when the dew starts to come on in the evening....

Other Thoughts:

Not sure why Idlewild is rated higher...this course was right up there with Ludington, Michigan's Beauty, Beast and Goliath courses...Flip City of course still stands, in my eyes as the very Best of the Best!

About Time I got to this one 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 12, 2007 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Balance, variety, the spice of life! There are some amazing wooded holes here that play up, down, through, and across some very unique ravines. These wooded holes are what disc golf woods lovers love. It is great to introduce water hazards and elevation in the tight woods. Beside just some killer wooded holes, there are lots of chances to air it out on very well designed holes that challenge your shot placement due to the rolling terrain and surrounding rough. OB with the park's roads and the water offer additional and well appreciated challenge. Some of the pins are placed in nice, precarious locations that offer the risk/reward challenge and make you think about placing your upshots and making a good putt versus laying up to avoid a destrutive rollaway or blwoby. The park is very well maintained, both well cut open grass fairways and well cleaned and attended wooded fairways. There is no pay to play here! This is one of the courses of the 100+ that I have played which has it all, everything required in my book to earn a 5-disc rating. Tight woods, cool sharp elevation changes, some risky greens, water hazards, a downhill bomber, more than 18 holes, and worth a roadtrip/overnight stay from far away (especially considering the other courses in the area too)!

Cons:

Really, nothing against the course itself. I tend to be harsh on concrete tees that are eroded in the front because my follow through takes me over the edge often, and I also worry about limiting my approach due to planting on the edge and rolling an ankle. You have some erosion here at the front, but the pads are ginormous and the parks department does a great job with landscaping. While the wooded holes are incredible and utilize some of the best ridges, valleys, creeks I've seen, I would like to see more of the open holes dumped and more new wooded wonders. This is a PRO that there is a cool creek winding through the wooded holes in the middle, but most often I'd imagine in is fairly dry and not too much of a hazard. Cool nonetheless. Too many greens are wide open, I prefer much more risky greens.

Other Thoughts:

It is about time I got around to writing this review. I played it a while ago and it has never left my mind. I struggled a little bit on this one, and contemplated leaving a 4.5 or 5 disc rating. Not for a nit-picking little choice of definition of "long downhill bomber hole". While the last hole here is technically not what I had in mind as a bomber, it scratches the itch to air it out very well. You can come here, even under the hot and humid KY summer weather like I did, enjoy a fairly quiet and not busy round on a fantastic course that has more than 18 holes (so it's worth a roadtrip in my mind). You get to air it out, you get elevation in the open and in the tight woods, you get a great round of disc golf. I actually played this, then drove to Idlewild and guess what. I skipped Idlewild. I know, that may be blasphemous on here, but I did it and I don't really regret it at all. If I go back to hit up Idlewild, I'll definitely make time to play here again! Come and play it, this course gives you incredible balance and variety, the kind of stuff that will scratch that worst disc golf itch of yours. And it's worth a roadtrip too! This is more of a PDGA Blue level course (definitely not Gold, but not White as indicated, but maybe that's just due to the discrepancies on the tee signs). To me however, you simply cannot lose yourself in the middle of a city park that is joint use (the sounds of kids screaming at the playground, traffic, etc). Setting kills the opportunity for a 5, NOT the design or terrain.

a fun course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 27, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is at times very challenging, but at the same time it can be played by everyone; beginners, intermediate, and advanced. It has very wide open holes and very tight shots. It is fair to every type of player and does not favor a specific player. It helps to have a strong arm, but it isn't necessary. I love the course because every hole is unique. It is as if God designed the land for a disc golf course. The designer used the land and put a lot of thought into each hole

Cons:

Alternate tees and holes exist on many holes. I think if you play the alternate holes than the course ends up being 18 holes. A few next hole signs by baskets would make things so much better for people new to the course. Holes 5 and 6 are reached by going across a parking lot, but most people seem to skip them.

Other Thoughts:

The course is 24 holes, going up and in, down and back out of the woods, so it can take 2 plus hours to play. It is very clean, but it would help if everyone used the trash cans. People take good care of the course. In NKY this is probably the 2nd best course to play next to Idlewild, but consider playing this course over Idlewild if you aren't very, very good because although neither are for the faint of heart, Idlewild can end up being a very bad day. At Banklick/Lincoln Ridge I feel you are guaranteed to have a great time even on an off day.

Challenging and FUN! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 3, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Almost every hole is unique. Never a dull moment. Major elevation changes, and some terrific downhill holes. Slightly rocky terrain. Holes designed by someone with an imagination and a purpose. Holes are challenging but always fair, with actual fairways and routes to holes, even in the woods. Very little poke-and-hope. Easy to navigate. Very fun course.

Cons:

A couple of cracked tees, but only on short holes where run-up is not needed. A very minor quibble.

Other Thoughts:

This course has the one thing that its big brother Idlewild lacks: FUN. Play Idlewild first (a great course too), then come here, and you'll see what I mean. I played with a couple of accommodating locals who showed me around. It was pretty crowded but everyone was cool and courteous. I'm also struck by the seeming lack of vandalism at this course. The locals seem to take pride in their courses. Great to see that. Whoever designed this course knew what they were doing. Granted, they had a fantastic piece of land to work with, but they still had to come up with a layout that utilized the land, and they did a magnificent job. Uphill, downhill (some of the funnest downhills I've ever played), side-hill, you name it. From the first hole, you know you're in for a treat: tee off on a wide open downhill that finishes in the dark woods. It looks a little daunting from the tee, but what a fun hole to start out with! If I have to pick a favorite, it's hole 21(?), which plays along the side of a big hill that slopes down to a pond. There is a building on the right (don't worry--the windows are plexi) which you have to bend your drive around, and if you don't stick the shot, it can roll down into the pond. Your upshot plays through a copse of trees to the basket that waits at the top of the hill. Just beautiful, and very imaginative. This picturesque hole is indicative of the entire course. I wish I could have played it again, but since I play on mostly flat courses in central Illinois, 24 holes up and down these hills had worn me out. Can't wait to go back!

Pros:

Hole Variety/Course Layout-
Good variety here from tightly wooded to mostly wide open. The pin placements with the hills make elevation a factor on alot of holes. Also I would say this course favors "big arm" players, but it will give anyone a challenge.

Course maintenance-
Every hole has nice sized concrete tee pads. Benches and trash cans add to the good maintenance. Overall the park looked really nice, I didnt see one piece of trash on the ground through out the whole course.

Cons:

-Not to many cons here. There were a couple tee signs that needed to be replaced and "next tee" arrows could help in a couple spots.

-Also it was a little busy when I played and we got held up at a few holes.

Other Thoughts:

-Overall this was a great course! Makes for a GREAT day of disc to play here along with idlewild! The people who live in the area are very lucky to have 2 world class courses so close to each other.

HBB (Home Boy Bias) 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 24, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

I've been waiting to review one of my home courses for a long time. I wanted to clear the aura of Home Boy Bias from my mind before writing this review...and I'll try my best to do it objectively.

I've played ~70 courses including temp courses that aren't listed on this site. Lincoln Ridge...Banklick...is probably the perfect course for every day play. It offers such a wide variety of shots on its 24 hole layout that you can practice for any out of town tournament here. It offers challenge to any level of player. From the beginner to the seasoned Pro. Yes, a beginner has their improvement sights set on even par...and the seasoned pro has their sights set on -16...but it is both a challenge and a very fun course to play.

Hole #1 & #2 are sort of unique in a way that they allow you to throw for distance downhill right from the start...you get your arm loosened up without having to really bomb on a long hole like some courses...your line must be true but you do have room for error. Hole #3 is a true 300+ ft Hyzer shot but if you have a late skip you are deep in the woods. #4 is a nice little ace run with a putter or mid.

Holes #5 & #6 are the newest holes and offer tight wooded holes that can be considered Par 4's for Intermediates and below. #7 is a downhill wooded ace run that is tight wooded with a risk of blowing past the basket and deep into a runoff creek.

#8 is a hole that brings debate. It is a hyzer shot that keeps going left. Some people try to throw overstable here while others say you have to hyzer understable and let it ride the curve. It is a shot that you must master because this is a must deuce hole in order to cash.

#9 offers a lefty and righty approach and for me it is the perfect Drone or Gator shot.

#10 starts the pins with alternate tees. We call them 'uppers' and 'lowers' eventhough some are actually short or long. #10 lower and #10 upper are two completely different shots.

#11 and #12 give you a chance to unload on a wide open hole...while #13 is a 300ft control drive with a sharp drop off 30ft past the basket.

#14-16 are 'the creek holes'. #14 is a sharp decline downhill that many throw a putter on...blow by...and have to dig their putter out of the creek 150ft past the basket. Try a thumber here and be surprised. #15 & #16 have both a creek..and a sharp drop off to the right....even if you hit on the left on the hill side...don't be surprised if your disc rolls down into the creek.

#17 is a great long tight forehand shot. You can try a backhand turn over here...but there are a few mature trees to the left that make that interesting.

#18 is a short shot over a big gulley..hidden to the right behind some trees. A Comet is a nice ace run while a forehand predator is a gimme deuce. #19 has uppers and lowers and make two completely different shots.

#20 is a blind hole. You stand on a very nice teepad with large granite riprap rocks protecting against errosion. the fairway falls below you to a heavily wooded creek and then back up a clearing. The first time you play you can't see a 'fair' way...however if you walk to the creek and look backwards you will see there is a line there and it is a simple Comet or forehand shot. If you have a big arm...try going over the trees.

#21 has an upper and a lower tee. The upper tee is a long...long...turn over shot that has trees protecting at about 350 feet with a sharp incline up to the basket. There is a pond to the left that loves to swallow those turnover shots that turn into nose up hyzers.

#22 and #23 are called the 'bowl holes'...because they play down into and up and out of a bowl. #22 is a 300ft Buzzz ace run that is a must deuce. #23 is a long hard pull up hill that is a must deuce for big arms and will humble short arm folks.

#24 is a 500ft downhill pull with that same pond on #21 to the left and the park entrance road to the right. A few strategic trees midway and around the basket make this a very tough hole. Simple throw as hard as you can and see if you got the ump!! to get it there.

As of a few weeks ago...new high quality benches on most holes. The upkeep of the park is phenomenal. It has real restrooms. It has a practice basket at the parking lot with plenty of room for multiple people to practice. It does a really good job of separating disc golf from the other park amenities for safety. It has quality baskets.

Cons:

Being a home boy you can see the cons easier than most out of towners. Yes, you may have rose colored glasses but like your own home...you can see things others wouldn't see because you notice every little detail.

Here..the cons are it is heavily played and that certain element refuses to throw their blue beer cans into the green trash cans...thus..if you throw a blue disc off the tee..it can be hard to find if you hit the shule. We constantly clean up others mess..but atleast we do clean up. Some of the teepads are missing the back right corner where most of us start our run up.

Hole #14 needs erosion control around the basket to control erosion ofcourse but also to create a fair landing zone. Some approach layups simple jump up on the roots and roll down the hill 100ft. The steps leading down to #15 are getting old and are dangerous in wet conditions. #16 to #17..."Fat Man's Misery" steps need some serious work as does the bridge on #7.

Other Thoughts:

If Idlewild weren't down the street and I didn't know what a 5 was...I would rate this course a 5 even with its flaws. It is more of a 4.8 than a 4.5. With some cosmetic work this could be a 5. The layout is wonderful. The shot selection is wonderful. The use of terrain and foilage is wonderful.

If you ever come to the Northern Kentucky/Cincy area this is a must play course. Most will find this park much more enjoyable to play than Idlewild...while Idlewild is a masterpiece...it is designed to push the pro player...Banklick....err...Lincoln Ridge is designed to challenge everyone.

Pros:

The Lincoln Ridge disc golf course is a well-designed, well-maintained course that is both fun and challenging. The essentials for a great course are all here. The course uses Chainstar baskets that are in great shape with multiple pin positions on several holes, level concrete tee pads (mutiple tees on a few holes), and nice tee signs on all holes that accurately represent the layout of the hole.

The course flows great from hole to hole, and navigation is relatively simple. The course is comprised of two loops that each return back to the main parking area, the first loop: holes 1-11, and the second loop: holes 12-24. There are no crossing fairways, but there are a couple of fairways/tees in close proximity. The fairway for Hole11 and Hole12 parallel each other in opposite directions, and the tee for Hole 13 and Hole20 are potentially in play from the tee on Hole12, so be aware of other players in these areas. All of the fairways are well-defined, and are clearly noted on the signs. There is some underbrush and overgrowth, but only outside of the fairways. If you stay in/near the fairway, this will not be an issue. Benches and Trash receptacles are located appropriately around the course.

The course layout is fantastic! There are lots of trees/tree lines that are utilized effectively to create defined fairways which offer gentle and more severe hyzer/anhyzer shots. The slopes and elevation changes are amazing throughout the course, and help to create some asthetically pleasing and challenging tee shots. The entrance road to the park plays OB on 4 of the holes. Three of these holes require a right to left shot that starts out over the road and fade/turn (RH/LH) back to the basket. Missing your line here will either put you in the trees or OB for a one stroke penalty. The designer/s did a great job of creating a variety in the length of holes and types of shots as you play through the course. There are several tight and challenging fairways, but none of them are unfair, and a few longer (350+ft ) more open holes to let you stretch out your arm a bit.

Overall, the course provides ample challenge for players of all levels. There are plenty of risk/reward holes at Lincoln Ridge, another great feature of the course. Accuracy and distance control are most important here. A well placed tee shot can help keep the scores low, but bad placement off the tee and over-throwing some of the pin locations can get you in trouble fast. This is without a doubt one of the most visually appealing courses I have ever played.

Cons:

There isn't much to put in the cons section. I will mention a few things to be aware of, but these are not necessariy "flaws" of the course. A couple of areas may be confusing to navigate for a first-timer, but the course map is excellent, I would suggest printing a copy to take with you if you are going to play. (Link below, and on the "Links/Files" tab in the DGCR course homepage) There are some steep elevations (up & down) to navigate. The course was dry when I played, so it wasn't a big deal, but I can see how getting around could be a little difficult in wet/raining conditions. This is a popular course, and can get very crowded, but the locals were very nice and let me play through on several of the holes. The extra 6 holes help to keep players scattered and help to eliminate back-ups on the course. The last thing is pin placement, some of the pins are not visible from the tee, and there is no way to identify which position the basket is suppose to be in for holes with multiple positions, this seems to be a very common issue with most courses.

Other Thoughts:

This course is definitely on my "favorites" list, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. A fantastic DG experience for me from start to finish. If you are looking for a visually appealing, well-maintained course that is both fun and challenging, then this is exactly what you are looking for.

Fantastic course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 23, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course was one of the most enjoyable I've played. It really felt like it had everything, from open bombs to tightly wooded technical holes. The design forces you to use just about every kind of shot to be successful, and mixes different types of holes through the entire course.

There were very few flat holes on the course, and the elevation changes were used brilliantly throughout, both in the woods and out in the open. The park is well-maintained, with nicely mowed grass on the field shots, and very well kept fairways in the woods.

There were a lot of people playing when we were there, but everyone we ran into was very friendly, from first time discers to obviously experienced players. Though the course was busy, the flow was still mostly good, and it seems that the locals do a good job of promoting positive course etiquette.

The tees are nice large concrete pads, and were in great shape. The tee signs looked very nice and professional, and were also mostly in good shape. They were detailed enough to get around the course, and were placed so they didn't interfere with the tee. Many holes had alternate pin placements, and the locations of these were clearly indicated on the signs.

Cons:

As always, when there are multiple pin positions, and the pin is not obviously visible from the tee, I really like to see a way of marking the current position. The tee signs were very easy to follow, but the various placements on some holes were different enough that it was necessary to walk up the fairway to plan the shot.

Other Thoughts:

This course is extremely well kept, and overall was a fantastic disc golf experience. I would agree with people who have described it as Idlewild's little brother, as it offers much of the same variety and challenge while being a little more accessible to newer players. I would highly recommend this course if you are anywhere near the Cincinnati area.

Pros:

This is not an 18 hole course- it has 24 great holes!!! So if you like to get more from a round then this is your place. Some courses have extra holes that can actually detract from the course, but not this course- all 24 holes are sweet and make the course complete.

It is challenging, yet manageable, and there are birdie opportunities. There is a very good mix of open and wooded holes as well as left/right/straight shots required. There is quite a bit of elevation as well. It is set on a beautiful piece of land- the open grassy holes are just begging you to throw a disc on them. They are ideal for watching your disc sail through the air, then landing softly on the lush fairway. The wooded holes are fair and test your accuracy as they do have actual well-defined fairways.

I personally liked the teepad area- the concrete tees, signs, and mulch just look amazing and beg you to come throw your drive. Many of the basket locations are unique and creatively placed.

Cons:

If you are an 18 hole purist then the number 24 may not sit well with you!

A stray cat followed us for around for the first 14 holes (he had a lot of energy). He was noisy meowing frequently (probably hungry and lonely) and sometimes he got in the way as he tried to walk through you legs, which is dangerous when you are trying to throw!!! (not really a con, but a funny, memorable story nonetheless.)

Other Thoughts:

A must play. Check out the pictures and you will want to play here. (And the holes look 10 times better in person.) Couple it with with nearby Idlewild, it and makes for an unbelievable day of disc golf!!!

This course/park was known (and probably still is in some circles) as Banklick- until it was renamed in February '09 to Lincoln Ridge.

Rip and run.... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 14, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Phenomenal course, long holes weaving in and out of woods. Really nice elevation changes throughout. Several tees go off near cliff size chasms of dispare. One going so far down my ears popped on my way down to the creek bed to retrieve my disc. Wonderful balance between wooded and open field holes. Several holes skirt the creek, which is deep and wide at some points. Great use of the creek as an obstacle. This course has a lot of offer in variety of shot. There are several hole where different shots can be chosen. Choice of pin placement is excellent. Very well maintained, set in a multiuse park. Easy parking, lots of refuse containers. First shot goes out over the road, nice...

Cons:

Signage needed for 4 to 5..Easy to get lost as stated before. A few holes are average.

Other Thoughts:

Sad that there are trash cans all over, yet people still just drop trash on the course. Did not see any public bathrooms.

Another GREAT Cincy course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 29, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very pretty environment. Decent flow. Boasts some of the coolest individual holes in the Cincy area. My particular favorites are the ones near the stream bed. One of them is 200+ ft. away down a steep hill, facing the stream. One bad roll and you could end up all wet at the bottom. The next hole lies directly on the side of the stream and the same OB warning applies. These are true signature holes which should not be missed.

Also, the course is 24 holes which just means more fun.

Cons:

Can be busy because its so awesome. Not extremely challenging...I shot a one-over-par after 24 holes (playing everything as par 3).

Other Thoughts:

Only gave this course a 4.5 because it is so close to Idlewild...there can't be two true 5-star courses within 10 miles of each other, right?
