Nice neighborhood 9 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Lochmere is a private, neighborhood short-track in park tucked between an embankment dam and a country club neighborhood. Find a friend living in the neighborhood to invite you to play.

+ There is a walking trail winding through this little neighborhood park and the designers use it as the backbone of the first 7 holes. Each tee area is marked by a numbered post. Navigation is simple and follows the UDisc course map.

+ Nothing too special about hole #1, but the basket is on a little mound, so there is some roll-away risk on this fast-ish green.

+ The first hole that stood out to me as unique was #3. At 316 feet, it's the longest hole on the course. It's also one of only 3 holes with any elevation elements to it. It plays parallel to the embankment and makes for a unique and scenic hole. Throw straight down the fairway, embankment to the right, a line of trees to the left, with a right to left finish.

+ Hole 5 also has a little elevation as it throws downhill, again avoiding scattered trees. This hole actually requires some shot shaping.

+ Hole 7 is unique in that it leads you out of the dedicated DG-only section of the park over towards the playground, playing over a small creek and a pretty wide window to hit from the tee. This is the first hole where you should be aware in case there are other park-goers nearby.

+ Hole 8 has the most elevation off the tee and plays downhill RHBH hyzer.

+ Hole 9's basket is on the embankment and is the only other fast green on the course.

+ It's a pretty, well-maintained little park. The surroundings near the course -- the golf course and the lake -- are also very nice.

Cons:

This is a simple 9-hole track catering to beginners and Rec level players, although Intermediate players should enjoy the putter and mid practice off the tee.

- Not particularly challenging. Still fun though.

- Holes 1, 2, 4, and 6 are just OK, nothing special. (#1 is the best of these four holes because of its green.) All are between 200 and 250 feet with scattered trees. Not much (if any) elevation on these. Nothing wrong with any of them, just nothing special.

- You need to watch out for kids running to or from the playground on hole #7. Your view is somewhat obstructed from the tee.

Other Thoughts:

Not a bad little neighborhood course. Much better than nearby Scottish Hills and Avalon Peaks (if that one is still around). Find a neighbor to get you access to play.
