Pros:

The Loma Vista - Junior Disc Golf Course plays on the north side of Loma Vista Park. Loma Vista Park is a decent sized city park with a large expanse of green grass. There is a children's play area but not much else.

Loma Vista in one five of these junior disc golf courses in Spokane along with the two in nearby Cheney. All seven courses have the same great signs and heavy duty Mach Series baskets although these at Loma Vista are triple chains. The parks are all similar typical city neighborhood parks with scattered mature trees and lovely maintained grounds.

The first of the four holes starts near the street. The # 1 sign is just a couple of feet from the street and plays 175' up a fairly stout hill. Then you have to walk back down the hill only to throw 170' up the hill again. # 3 tee is in the trees ahead and then plays a short 128' up a very slight hill to a basket tucked in between four spruce (???) trees. Finally # 4 is a flat and open 118' throw.

The park is easily big enough to put in a nine hole course and still keep out of everyone's way.

Cons:

I don't care for this design at all. If you're going to try and interest people in disc golf, you don't force them to throw half of the holes uphill, even if they're fairly tame. It's lots more fun to throw downhill, isn't it? And that would have been very simple to design these for holes without having holes playing up the hillside.

All the same cons as the other junior courses. Only three or four holes. Short distances and no tee pads.

My same complaint about the signs. They aren't facing the basket. They're perpendicular to the basket. It's confusing.

Other Thoughts:

Because of the two uphill throws, Loma Vista Junior DGC isn't as enjoyable as the other junior courses. If the park's department ever enlarges and reworks this course, I hope that they would be able to eliminate, at least one of the uphills. They're certainly not difficult for anyone who's played before but for the beginner, just not enjoyable.
