Pros:

Lowell Elementary School is a short 9 hole course. It has DISCatcher baskets and has sneakily good elevation usage compared to most elementary school pitch-&-putt courses that I have played.

There are actually some decent hole designs throughout the course: Hole 1 is a fun hyzer shot that plays down a steep hill towards a dilapidated stage that looks like it should be torn down. Hole 2 plays straight back up the same hill. Hole 3 is a chip hyzer shot with a low ceiling at the tee and coming into the basket. Hole 7 is another fun downhill hyzer shot.

The course is full of ace possibilities, as pretty much every hole is ace-able. Plus, rounds here are going to be quick. So a person could fit in a lot of ace runs into a single day spent here.

Cons:

This course is in such disrepair, that the stage Hole 1's basket is beside doesn't seem so concerning by the time you leave the course. The baskets are all rusted and showing significant signs of age and disrepair. Hole 3's pin is missing the actual basket (just pole and chains), and Hole 5's pin has the basket just loose around the base of the pole, on the ground. Unfortunately, it seems this has been the state of the course for a few years now.

The course plays around the edge of the school's property, so an errant shot could end up on the other side of the fence, on private property, or even on top of the school if thrown poorly at Hole 6. The whole school grounds feels a bit congested, with the course squeezed into the middle of everything, which would mean trying to play safari golf might increase the chance of losing a disc or breaking one of the school's windows.

The tees, which I think were supposed to be marked with small concrete squares, were not always there - or at least I couldn't find them all. This meant I was using the map I had to try and play as accurate of a layout as I could. Hole 3 is almost completely overgrown by the low hanging branches of the trees by the tee and basket. Of course, if I was the height of an elementary school student, this might not have seemed like a big deal.

Other Thoughts:

I am going to give Lowell Elementary School a 0.5 rating for now, and the only saving grace that is keeping me from rating it lower is because of the fun usage of elevation. I could tell there was originally a fun little beginner course designed for this school. With holes like 1, 2, & 7 this course could be a fun little ace run course, but the current state of the course leaves a lot to be desired. What's worse is that it seems the course has been this way for at least five years.

Possibly the worst course I've played 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 17, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

+ It's a disc golf course.

+ It almost has 9 functional baskets.

+ There are plenty of ace runs.

+ There are one or two holes that deviate from the "Throw a putter 80-150' straight" formula

Cons:

- There is nothing indicating the tees whatsoever. No tees, no tee signs, no kickboards, no 50 cent flags in the ground, nothing at all. I had to guess based on the DGCR map where to throw.

- Two baskets are in disrepair. #3 has no cage at all, and #5 I think it was has a cage that's fallen to the ground. The rest of the baskets are rusty and look like something out of Fallout 3.

- It plays on an elementary school. This severely limits when you can play.

- There is no challenge at all. If you take a 3 on any of these holes, consider it a bogey. I felt bad if I landed more than 10' from any of the baskets, no joke.

Other Thoughts:

Don't come to this course unless your kid goes to this school.

Its a good course for kids attending the school aside from the complete lack of signage and the terrible condition of the baskets. If I were an elementary school aged kid, I think I'd find the holes fun.

As an adult, I don't plan to ever come back to this course.

Very Short 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 3, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course was very clean and if you lived close to the school it would be a convenient place to practice your short game and putting.

Cons:

No variations to shots and short to a fault. No signs or teepads, though you can find dead grass spots here and there where people have been throwing from. Several holes you can jump putt from the tee.

Other Thoughts:

Not a course worth going out of your way to play.
