This is a basic course, most holes are right to left which makes it fairly easy to par most holes, with birdie opportunities galore. Holes 1-10 are in a pine tree forest. Not dense tree coverage at all. The baskets are strategically placed well. Starting at hole 11 it is like a different course, hilly for a few holes, long on one hole, and then back around a side arm throw to hole #18.

Gunfire, Police Sirens, Crazy people shouting about, drug deals and gangstas. This course is not in a very good neighborhood. If you are a ghetto boyee, go for it, play this course at twilight and try your luck, bring your Kevlar.
Only the red tee boxes are marked, we did see a few brick markers, but they could not be found on most holes. You can play the same throw on almost every hole, there is not a whole lot of variety here. What is up with holes A,B,C?

If I lived nearby this course (I would move) I would play this course again.(during a weekday, between 7am and 3pm) If you do not live nearby, travel to a different course, the pros do not outweigh the cons here. (pun intended)

Pretty course (beautiful pine trees throughout - my favorite), well-manicured and maintained (not much trash). Main set of teepads marked well, and easy to find.

Alternate tees not marked well enough to easily find all without a printed map. Mostly short holes (from main teepads), and other than ABC holes, pretty much all are reachable; however the course was still worth playing if in the area.

Note: rating based mostly on difficulty.
Suggestions: Add a sign for A, B, C holes near hole 5's basket so that players can go play those if they want without driving in the car or walking from tee 18. From what I could tell, the gold teepads made this a significantly more challenging course...I couldn't find several of the first few holes, so I just played the normal marked teepads. I'd add similar posts if possible to help guide.
Also: I got hole 6's tee to 7's basket mixed up, but I probably wasn't paying very good attention.

Course is easy to follow. Tees and baskets marked well. Hole 1-10 are pretty short holes bunched together. Lots of birdie chances. Hole 11-18 are set on back part of park away from the picnic area. Nice mix of shots on back 7 holes. Fun course.

Had to skip hole # 5 because a football game was being played in the fairway. Lots of people unaware a disc golf is in this park.

Nice course threading through the trees at a neat park. The front ten weave through a flat grassy area with lots of big trees.
Back eight are across parking lot, and are more varied with some terrain, and more obstacles to shoot around, like a line of saplings or a large bush.

Great course for beginners because it is virtually impossible to lose a disc here, which is why I say it is a happy course. Though its next the a bayou, there is a chain link fence that keeps discs from straying that way. The only ways to lose a disc on this course are to toss one over the tall fence into bayou, or roll one down the drain pipe that flows into the bayou, both easy things to avoid.

Tees basic wooden posts with hole length and number, no maps. Alt tees hard to find on most holes. Relatively flat front 10 (go figure, its Houston)

On back 8, can be difficult trying to figure out which pin you are throwing to without checking pin up close.

Like many Houston courses, this course retains water after rains, so be prepared to get your feet and discs wet.

Nice park benches in the shade of the trees make perfect spot for a relaxing lunch, between front and back nine, and gives great view to watch the other players on at least 12 of the holes.

The thing that really makes this course go from decent to good is the back eight. The front ten are pretty vanilla Houston holes: flat, scattered trees. The things that bumps this park up a notch are
1) the park itself is quite pretty, with well-maintained facilities.
2) the back eight adds some variety with a bit of terrain, a rare commodity in Houston.
Theres a joke that sums it up:
"Houston has lots of hills- they're called highway overpasses."

The course although smaller than some of its neighboring courses, is a lot of fun. The course is located in a shady park filled with trees, which creates a relaxed atmosphere. The holes are challenging and technical. However, there are a lot of birdie opportunities which is always a plus for the average player. Located on the outskirts of University of Houston campus, there are always college students and famalies in the park playing or having a picnic. This course is fairly easy to navigate even though the signs are a little tough to find. Be sure to look for the colored bricks (blue - short, yellow- long) on the ground.

The only con I could find besides trying to navigate was the amount of people on the course (which could be considered a pro as well). At times I found myself waiting a little too long between holes yet it was worth the wait.

The overall feel to the course was friendly and layed back. This is the type of course that is great for a quick round whether your off to play multiple courses around the area or not. I would recommend this course to just about anyone unless your name is Nate Doss or Ken Climo.

21 holes with three sets of tees. Well marked main (red) tees with ~2ft tall wooden posts. Short tees are marked with blue bricks. Long tees are marked with yellow bricks. Most baskets have a spoke painted red which points the direction to the next tee. Ample parking. Transition from #10 to #11 is at the parking lot allowing you to refill supplies.

Update:
New (mid-2010) "crushed asphalt" tee pads have started to wear in, time will tell if they hold up well.

Short and long tee bricks were hard to find without a map, but that's changed since they installed the asphalt tee pads. A few challenging holes, e.g. #16, but in general not the most difficult course. No elevation as the park is almost completely flat.

Holes "A"-"C" play geographically between holes #4 & #5. The warm-up basket is located close to basket #10 on the way from the parking lot to tee #1; it has ~5' interval marker bricks for putting practice. One of the more popular area courses I've played in that there were a decent number of other players out there both times I've been there. A good drive that misses all the trees will leave you with a birdie putt on most holes.

Great casual course. The kind of park that people go to enjoy themselves hanging out with other disc golfers playing a nice relaxing round of golf. Wooded with some challenging shots, but most holes are very birdieable.

Long tees can increase difficulty, but the real draw of MacGregor is just to play a casual round not to challenge yourself so much. Great for introducing people to the game and playing in some trees.
