Mediocre School Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 19, 2020 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Navigation on Holes 10/10, between holes 9/10. Course is simple to follow. Baskets are all visible from tees, following tees are all visible from baskets, except for the long walk between holes 8 and 9.

Finding Discs 10/10. No hazards that could result in a spending much time looking for discs. Maybe if you grip lock on hole 2 but that's it.

Course Maintenance 8/10. Well mowed and the tee signs and baskets are in relatively good shape for a school course.

Baskets/Tees 5/10. Baskets are DD Patriots in pretty good shape. Tees are just grass and are unlevel in several cases.

Cons:

No alternate Placements. 0/10

Decisionmaking 1/10. Not many holes where you'll have to think about what to throw. Pretty much just whether to spike on 2-4 or not.

Variety of openness 2/10. Hole 2 is the only one with obstacles on both sides. 3 and 4 have a line of trees on the left, and the rest are completely open.

Challenging all Levels 2/10. There simply aren't enough obstacles to challenge players with any experience. The course is also fairly long for beginners though. Probably best for intermediate players wanting to work on distance while playing rather than going to a field

Elevation 2/10. Hole 1's pin is on an upslope, 2 has some slight elevation change, and 9 you throw downhill off a plateau.

Variety of shot paths 2/10. Holes 2-4 are all slightly right to left and 7 is a little more right to left. There are no holes that favor left to right.

Variety of distances 3/10. Overall the course is pretty long for a school course. Hole 4 is shorter at 250', hole 6 is pushing 500', and the rest are 325'-400'.

Use of obstacles 3/10. I appreciate the designer making an effort to use some obstacles. This course is more than 9 holes out in an empty field, and it doesn't go near areas that would have lots of school activities in play.

Comfort 4/10. There aren't any benches or amenities, and not much shade. It's not that big of a deal since it's only a 9 hole course without much elevation.

Other Thoughts:

Overall Challenge 3/10
More Precise Rating 1.463

I've definitely played worse school courses, at least this one has markers for the tees and all the baskets in place. There are also at least SOME obstacles on the first few holes. Holes 1-4 are a 2.0, Holes 5-8 are a 1.0. The second time I played here I just did 1-4 then 9 and did that lap twice.

Not much to this course 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Good baskets and good tee signs. A good course to play if you don't want to have to worry about missing obstructions when you throw. You have a pretty good open tee shot to most holes. It does require you to have some distance, as all the holes except 1 are over 300 feet, and some of them a good deal longer, so you can really get some good practice on throwing those bombs.

Cons:

There is no character to this course at all. It is basically 9 RHBH heizer shots in a row. Distance and wind are really the only things that add any difficulty. It seemed like they could have used some of the existing structure to add some character, but that did not happen. The layout is a little janky because it plays around the football stadium, and the walk between hole 8 basket and hole 9 tee pad is pretty long. They can be infrequent with their mowing. Natural tee boxes that aren't very flat.

Other Thoughts:

There isn't anything necessarily wrong with this course, It is fine. There definitely isn't anything right with this course either from a design perspective. It has solid bones with good signage and baskets, and is fine for a practice course, especially for beginners and lower skill level players, but nothing here to set it apart.
