Malcolm DGC is located in a 1 square block city park in Malcolm, IA. A fun course sprinkled around this park, utilizing a little elevation, a few trees and one fence around the tennis court to add interest. This is not a course to challenge the greats, but a fun course to introduce people to disc golf, or try to snag that first ace. Signage is good with a pic of the hole along with the distance and par (all 2s). Some would call this a "warm up course", I just had a good time. #3 does play along a fence for the tennis court, but otherwise you are away from other park activities. The upkeep has been excellent every time I've been here. Talked briefly to a guy mowing and he was surprised at the number of people who stop to play. It's just a couple of miles off I-80, so easy to get to, play a 15 minute round or two and head on. I will play here again.

I finished up a job in this little town and figured I might as well try out the course. It's located on a single block city park and is by far the shortest 9 hole course I've been to (725 feet!). Despite its size, this place has some charm to it. The signs are sufficient and will give newbies an idea of what to expect at a larger park. The baskets are in good shape. The longest hole is just barely over 100 feet, but there are a fair amount of obstacles- some trees, low ceiling evergreens, a bit of elevation and a centralized fence make these par 2s not quite "gimme" pars. I think the course designer did a great job with the space available; I've seen much worse with much more room and opportunity. The pavilion and on-site restrooms are a nice convenience. Navigation was simple enough once you figure out where hole 1 is.

It's short. There's no denying that seasoned players will find this course underwhelming. There are no teepads, "next tee" signs or seating available. An extra garbage can or two would help but I assume there aren't many extended outings going on here so it's not too important. I suppose the baskets could be made more interesting by adding an elevated or hanging basket.

All in all, this is a great little course to introduce the public to disc golf. The short length will appeal to those new to the sport so as to not be intimidated by a 400 foot par 3. I made an Ace on Hole 7, although it's only 60 feet so I feel a bit disingenuous taking much pride in it. A single round took about 15 minutes.

This course is not very interesting for those seeking a challenge, but I appreciate it all the same for what it provides.
