Nice City Park Course drive by

Pros:
A nice new course put in by the town of Taylorville IL. Growing the sport!
Quick rundown of the pros:
-Nice long grippy teepads
-Bright Lat64 baskets that are easy to spot
-great use of the terrain to require backhand and forehand lines to score
-nice mix of difficulty from a couple pitch and putts holes to the lovely downhill tunnel on Hole 14 to the very scary and disc eating Hole 10
-large mature trees make for great aesthetics.
I really appreciate how the designers used a relatively small area to put in 18 holes. Only one real throw away hole for course flow. The rest of the shorties require good touch to not hyzer into the woods or down a slope or into water
The course was very well maintained. Grass was cut, no trash or debris in the park. Good to see.

Cons:
A few oddities to point out.
Hole 10. It's really out of place on a city parks course and one I imagine most locals would skip. You have to hit a gap that is quite small in the spring/summer and carry straight over a legitimate marsh. Any disc that doesn't clear that gap is in trouble. It's dense and honestly it'd be better if it was just water and not a marsh as no retriever will pull a disc from its clutches. I imagine it fills with water after decent rain and holds dampness well due to all the growth not letting it dry out. The gap needs to be opened in the summer or the marsh need to be cut back a lot.
A few holes have you throwing over the park ring road which is usually a big issue for me however at least this is a one way road so you won't have cars popping up after you throw.
There are a couple holes that play close to each other where you can play into other fairways. Hole 17 springs to mind as it looks like it could use a mando to keep you out of the fairway for 15? When I played I through directly at the 15 basket to open up the 2nd shot.

Other Thoughts:
Really nice course for the size of the town it's in. I drove over an hour to play it and made sure to grab a bit to eat while in town. The more we can promote disc golf in small town USA the better for all of us.
