- Gary's Marquette Park DGC, located across the street from the Aquatorium, plays through a narrow grassy strip of land wedged between the beach's park road and a ridge of oak savanna. Most of the holes are located in the grassy open area, with a three-hole loop (#'s 11-13) playing up and down the edge of the oak savanna ridge.
- New baskets make up the whole of the amenities. Tees are marked by pink flags, one or two of which are missing. The entirety of the signage, for now, consists of 4x4 posts with hole number and distance in sharpie marker. It appeared as though several holes have an additional pin position.
- Elevation is used well throughout, but unfortunately too much of the course is flat-ish to really get plus marks here. Hole #1 starts off well enough in this department, with an uphill dogleg right. Hole #8 is a diagonal uphill around a few mature trees on the left. Hole #11 is a tasty uphill shot, up the edge of the oak savanna ridge. Hole #12 is the best of the bunch, a downhill shot off the ridge through the fringe of oak savanna to a basket below, well-guarded by mature tree trunks. Hole #18 is a downhill shot to a "blind" basket obscured from the tee's sightline by a bush which doesn't really come into play but sure makes you wonder where the hell the basket's at...
- Coupled with the open terrain, the relatively short hole lengths make Marquette's new course reasonable for beginners. Only hole #10 tops 400'; sub-250' holes abound; and two holes are sub-200' (#'s 2 & 4). With the location directly across from the beach and playgrounds, this course will hopefully attract a lot of beginner-level players.
- Wind. Right off Lake Michigan, wind will play a factor most days at this course.

- The narrowness of the strip of land the majority of the holes play through forces a lot of shots alongside the busy walking paths, park roadways, wedding venues, beaches, playgrounds, special events, and the like. A few signs cautioning flying discs are well-positioned, but conflict with other park goers is bound to happen. Several people were walking dogs across the course and a family was playing with a small kid at the top of the hill by hole #8 during my round here, for example. Don't come here expecting a secluded disc golf exclusive area.
- There's some awfully close holes smushed in together here. A ton of holes "switch back" upon the next hole. I can't imagine what this place would look like on a super busy day; the design borders on unsafe in several areas. Having to backtrack past #11's basket and down its fairway after teeing off on #12 doesn't help in this department.
- Hole #1's location is not at all obvious, I just jumped on at #11 (the first basket I saw) and went from there. It's tucked away at the edge of the ridge by a trailhead. Look for 18's basket, almost in line with the Aquatorium building and you're heading in the right direction, It's a particularly bad location for a first tee without any signage to point you there.
- The schule on #12 is cleared but still ankle high and pretty gnarly. Hole #2 has a gnarly patch of rough short of the basket, too.
- Hole #10's tee (or at least, the two pink flags representing the tee) points directly at hole #14's basket. Look to the left for 10's pin.
-Goose chit throughout. A whole flock of the dirty bastards by hole #2's basket.
- The occasional Gary olfactory experience.

- I'm assuming signage and tee upgrades are in the works, although you never know. I'll be certain to adjust my rating accordingly once they are completed.
- The playground across the street is apparently the bomb and double-thumbs up from kiddo, so bring the family, if that's like your jam...
- Most discers would be better served hitting up other nearby courses such as Glenn C. Mem., Hidden Lake, or Liberty Woods.
