Pros:
+ It's a course, of course
+ 9 baskets, 9 tee signs - navigation isn't a problem and the course plays a loop
+ Lightning-quick bag, beginner friendly, ace runs abound
+ Mix of open shots & wooded shots
Cons:
- Painfully short
- With the school right next to the course I imagine there are times of the day/week where playing could be affected by activities
Other Thoughts:
Mars Bluff. Back in '58 this was the site of one of our country's biggest "OH GOD NO!" moments. Just look the place up and have fun with that wild bit of history. Anyway, today it has the closest niner to 95 in the area and as such, it ended up in my sights while heading up the eastern seaboard in September.
From reading prior reviews I knew I probably shouldn't expect anything particularly memorable, but I was wrong, I will always remember Mars Bluff for being what has to be the shortest course I've ever played. I'm not here to pick it apart, and I've certainly played worse, it's just definitely an acquired taste. A taste for short. Wow-Short. It took me longer to get to the course from the interstate than it took to play it, that's how short we're talking. I can't remember if I've ever played a hole less than 100' but here there are 2, and 7 out of 9 are less than 200'.
That said, what we've got here is a great little course for beginners and kids that can certainly be challenging for anyone working on distance control. I imagine any locals here are acing several holes on the regular. This drive-thru bagger was underwhelmed though.
