disappointing for Colorado 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 23, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good baskets, no one around. We had the course to ourselves. Wide open shots. There were some small outcroppings of rock that added a little bit to some of the holes. There were some nice views of the mountains.

Cons:

There is some nearby construction that has overlapped onto hole 3. All the holes are very similar. Just wide open shots that are slightly downhill or uphill. I thought there were going to be trees, and elevation because of the proximity to the mountains. I was so disappointed. This might be the worst course I have ever played. The majority of the course is a wide open field that is slightly sloped. There are no trees and a few waist-high bushes. Distance and wind were the only obstacles.

Other Thoughts:

I played on a day when there were lightning storms nearby so that added some drama to an otherwise utterly boring course. I would like to see some man-made obstacles added or boundaries to make it more interesting. Maybe some fences, or raised baskets, or an island hole. There is definitely room for some improvements.

Matney 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 12, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Not crowded, 18 holes, some interesting scenery

Cons:

Uneven dirt tees, very few obstacles or challenge other than distance.

Other Thoughts:

Course is not terrible, but in general just pretty bland. I can't see making the trip there unless you want a course all to yourself or it is the closest course to you.

All About Conditions 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 3, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

The weeds were mowed which made it easy to figure out where you were supposed to throw and where the next tee was. There were two nice large signs with a map of the course on them and one sign looked like there was a place for maps or score cards or something. It was very easy to find discs.

Cons:

Setting makes windy days exceptionaly bad. There are no trees of any kind. Tees are literally just posts with numbers on them. While there was a varience in lengths it was hard to tell because of the wind conditions. Even the long hole did not feel as though it was as long as the map says. Without wind there is very little challenge on this course. The interesting "rock hazards" made for interesting terrain but will eat discs.

Other Thoughts:

I picked a day to play this course that I thought was going to have a nice light wind and although I did not make it there at the optimum time I felt like I was in a wind tunnel the entire time. I considered stopping after a few holes but pressed on and then realized about halfway through that without the wind there was very little challenge to this course. I would say that this is a good course for beginners but the rock hazards will force them to buy new discs sooner.

Very Raw 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 30, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Only DG course within miles. Good elevation challenge. Good tee posts.

Cons:

The wind was the only real obstacle. Doesn't demand a variety of shots. Not good footing for the drives. Watch out for cacti.

Other Thoughts:

I was just visiting and it was very windy, but it probably usually is due to being on top of a mountain.
