Pros:

I was in Maysville to see family in the area and researched this course via DGCourseReview.com. Luckily for me my hotel was literally an 18 minute walk from this fun, challenging 9 hole course. I only had time to play one round but my impression was very favorable. First off, the use of land for the 9 holes is awesome. Set on a Community College campus, a man made pond serves as a sweet centerpiece in a green grass, somewhat hilly, landscape. Awesome use of the trees in the course design that are scattered throughout the 9. Pines will eat your disc if you are not careful off the tee or in the fairway. The pond does come into play on a couple holes. You definitely have a safe line to throw if don;t want to risk losing a disc. Wading into the water is frowned upon by the college so think twice before you let that shot fly.
Basket placement is pretty awesome. A number of holes you will find the basket tucked behind a smattering of pine bushes, or a tall bushy tree of some kind. Makes the tee shot fun to ponder before you reach back.

I really enjoyed playing here. The scenery is fantastic. One constant is that you are reminded of being on a campus due to the school being the backdrop for a number of shots yet at the same time the land that incorporates the disc golf course is just that- a disc golf course. There are no sidewalks for joggers, no picnic tables etc. Simply 9 baskets with chains awaiting plastic. Speaking of the baskets, they are old, but in pretty decent shape. Tee pads, or lack thereof, need some work. You can see that at one point there was gravel but grass has grown. Tee areas are worn so you can definitely see where you need to throw from. Weathered tee signs also help with designating the tee box. Signs are ok. More on that below. All in all, if you find yourself in Maysville, KY or even across the river in the Ripley/Aberdeen area of Ohio, you owe it to yourself to come play this course. I will be playing every time I come back home to see family.

Cons:

Ok, so there are a few negative points, but to be honest, these points did not take away from my enjoyment. The tee signs are weathered and the info on the board needs work. google map pics are used to show tee pad and basket A/basket B locations but the pictures on these tee signs are terribly faded. Needs some updating with better hole map designs. Considering there is only one basket per hole, figuring out which location I was shooting at according to the faded tee sign info was a tad annoying. BUT! It did not have negative impact at all. I was able to see the basket on almost every hole. On holes I couldnt, a short walk down the fairway was all I needed as a first timer.
The tee pads need work as previously mentioned. There were also no trashcans or benches at tees. Not a big deal but if it was a course I played every weekend, it would start to be a bummer.

Other Thoughts:

All in all, a super fun course. I used drivers at full rip, used mids, fairway drivers. Backhand shots, flick shots, even a couple thumbers. Due to the course basically being on a rolling grass hilly piece of land with scattered pines/bushes, wind could play a huge factor. Nothing too flippy especially around the pond. Hole 9 is a great final throw slightly downhill 340 foot shot with the pond in the background. Really very cool way to end the round. Whoever put this course together was a disc golfer and made great use of the land provided. A lot of fun. Highly recommended. When you walk down driveway of the Community College, course will be on the left at end.
