Pros:
Mayville Rotary is located in a city park. In addition to the disc golf course, the park features playground equipment and a walking path. The park appears to be kept in a clean condition. All of the grass in the park had been recently mowed when I played. All 9 holes feature concrete pads, signs that display the basket number, a map, distance, and par, and red Dynamic Discs Veteran baskets. The overall appearance of the park is scenic, as a portion of the park is on a top of a hill that slopes west towards a stream, while the eastern slope is towards a lake. It is likely that advanced players will enjoy and appreciate this course.
Cons:
All 9 holes are par 3. This course is far more difficult than other 9 basket courses I have played in southern Wisconsin or other states, and therefore perhaps should have higher pars on some of the holes. Hole 1 for example is 399 feet through a heavily wooded area that slopes to the west, or left, and should probably be considered at least a par 4 or more. The baskets for 6 and 7 are water hazards because they are located too close to the lake. The par for 6 and 7 should probably be 4 or more instead of 3 because many or most players will want to throw conservative shots to avoid errant or overthrow shots into the lake. #6 especially is not beginner friendly because of the proximity of the basket to the water. Any disc that goes into the water at #6 or #7 is likely unrecoverable due to the murkiness of the water.
Other Thoughts:
Mayville Rotary is located in a beautiful park. Some players will love this course, while others will likely curse it. Because of the water hazards, those strong-armed players who love to let those drivers fly on open fairways may want to avoid this course while beginners or players with less experience may want to play at other courses that don't feature the water hazards.
