This is a great course to challenge your skilled/technical shots.

Most challenging course in Springfield, a lot more distance and trees to play around.

Got to watch out for the cedar trees, they eat discs! Aldo the woods by Holes 8 and 9 are loaded with ticks. Needs to be mowed a little more often as well. Current construction is messing with holes 3,4, and 5.

Only 10 holes but still a great course that is usually not too busy. Considering what is in Springfield, this should be the go to place.

difficult but not too difficult plays on rolling hills for small elevation change. The trees are the biggest obstacles to deal with and make it challenging which to me is a plus considering most of the courses down here are wide open.

the trees that make it challenging are cedar trees which eat discs and reduce your options for reaching the baskets. They cause several holes to be blind shots. this does help you learn new lines though but can make it a frustrating round

as of 10/16/2010 3's basket is missing in action and based on how long 9's basket was missing from tom watkins it may be gone awhile but hopefully it will be replaced shortly.

This park is beautiful with very lush green grass and trees. This place seems very well maintained. The holes are almost all built with some kind of technical angle to them. The use of trees and protected pin locations is really well done. There is nice use of the slight elevation found in the terrain and the hole length variation is quite suitable. The 10-hole adventure is certainly worthwhile. The tee signs are decent and have a map on them. Navigation is not too bad here and you certainly won't have too much trouble your first time out, but maps never hurt. There are no bathrooms or trashcans on the course.

As mentioned previously, the cedar trees are messy and brutal. I am not sure this is a negative, but it cannot be overlooked. #10 is missing its tee sign, but the post is still there. The tee pads are not in great shape and you have to use the map on tee sign to even find the long tee pad areas.

The Fun Factor was good here. The holes were just challenging enough to make me forget that this course was only 10 holes until it was all of a sudden, over. If you are nearby, this is the place to visit. I would certainly come back to this course.

Great mix of long holes to air it out with well designed shorter holes to tempt the lucky ace seeker. The landscape is perfectly utilized to protect pins. Always a great pace on the course, even on busy days. Most pins are completely hidden from the tee box which makes for challenging blind drives. Recently they have added concrete tee pads.

Occasionally the course will flood after several days of rain. The woods on the back of #8 and #9 contain thousands of ticks.

There really is no reason to play another course in Springfield after playing here.

Very pleasant course to play. Well maintained grass, hills and a bevy of cedar trees (contrary to GTrotter's review, there is no cypress at McBride) give the place the feel of a ball golf course. Pins well-guarded by trees mean you have to get creative. A dead-on tomahawk shot is a huge boon at McBride. Long holes make this a great course for those who love to go all-out on drives, but pin placement makes finesse and strategy necessary.

Cedar trees do not give up a disc easily. They're basically just very large, thick, sappy bushes that tend to cause hives (though they do smell lovely). If you lack control, be prepared to do some climbing/hive-removing. Also, woods near holes 8 and 9 are tick-infested. If you go in there for any length of time, give yourself a good once over. Like GTrotter said, only 10 holes, though they are 10 very enjoyable holes.

The constant and pervasive melodies of Phil Collins issuing over the course can get in your head if you let them. Experienced players will know how to shake that off. I remember one day, though. An unplugged version of "In the Air Tonight" COMPLETELY decimated my putting game.

I'd lived in Springfield just over a year when I found this course, and it immediately made living there 2.5x better. Not the best round you'll ever play, by any means, but a damn decent course players of any skill level can enjoy.

I realize the 'best of SW Missouri' isn't saying much but this is a very nice course. Rolling hills, well groomed, a mix of short and long holes with challenging tree looks. Rarely ever crowded. I lived in Springfield for about a year and this was the home course. Nothing else we discovered was in the same league.

No real tee pads. Only 10 holes...have to play it twice to get a decent round in. And it truly sucks getting discs lost in the cypress trees.

First hole can be challenging to find on your first visit. The tee box is just west of the gazebo thing, on the actual cart path. You'll be driving north; the pin is in the thick of some trees. You can just barely see a dirt path that leads to it.

Often, there are really lame church parties under the gazebo with people drinking Pepsi and listening to Phil Collins. Agree to disagree.

Beautiful area, nice rolling hills to play in and out of. Challenging shots with pins placed very tightly in evergreens.

Course flow was a little difficult to navigate, but not bad.

Not for the individual who likes to rip 'em over and over.
