Pros:
+9 Innova baskets that are in good shape
+9 marked tees
+Nice views of Lake Kampeska
+Overall, a nice park. Lots of mature trees, some cattails and other tall grasses. It's peaceful and reasonably scenic.
+A bit of elevation that is used well on the last 3 holes.
+Camping, bathrooms, beach, dock, playground, shelters, etc are here.
+Nice variety of birds present if you are into birding.
Cons:
-The tees are marked with a stake but no other info. Use Udisc for navigation as it isn't super straightforward the first time around. No signage at all. I don't even think there were hole numbers on the wooden stake/poles.
-Baskets are definitely more than a year old and are numbered 10-18. I think that Jackson Park may have gone from a 9 to 18 and back to a 9. I assume that's where these baskets came from.
-Tees are natural.
-Other parts of the park can come into play. Holes 2-4 are closest to the lake and the playground. It was fine when I was there on a Sunday morning but during a summer weekend, these holes might be unplayable.
-Course is overall on the shorter side and many holes felt the same. Not enough trees to really force lines.
-No signature hole. The last 3 with a bit of elevation are probably the best on the course.
Other Thoughts:
+This course feels like a "we have 9 baskets, let's put them in a nice park with little other effort". The design doesn't seem to have a lot of thought put into it and their seems to be no expense used besides the already available baskets. If it had basic tees, signs and a little rework of the layout to add challenge, safety, and fun, I could see this course being a solid 3. The park is nice and there is opportunity here.
+Watertown has 3 public courses that are all average and this one is in 3rd place. The 18 closer to town is probably the most interesting.
+Fun factor is average. Not bad but not very inspiring either. I don't regret having played but am not planning a trip back.
