Wish my company had a course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 9, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course gets a minimum 1.5 stars for being as close to Boston as it is. With 6 high quality baskets and tee signs in the ground as well as a couple holes that need a driver or at least a Fairway driver it earns a solid 2. Course is shaped like a horseshoe, so if you see a basket keep driving counterclockwise around the perimeter until you reach the first hole and course map.

Cons:

Private course on business park property, but the place was quite empty on a Saturday. A very errant throw could end up in a parking lot on every hole. Natural tees are fine currently but could get quite rough with regular usage.

Other Thoughts:

It isn't a destination course or a place for pro players to practice honing shots, but not every course has to be. As an option to eating lunch in your cubicle, it's great. It's an easy way to introduce coworkers to the game quickly. If I had any suggestions it would be to try and use more of the land between the basket of 2 and the tee of 3 with the views and elevation. However, the growth of the game in this area of the state would be well served by work like this.

The disc golf shot heard around the world 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 27, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Have you ever walked out of a building, seen a group of 10 trees, and thought "That would make a pretty nice fairway?" Of course you have. And it looks like some guys who work here did the same thing. This course plays around the perimeter of one of those corporate office parks that sprung up in the 60s and 70s.

And there are some solid fairways here. None of this is really beginner-type design. Hole 2 is a surprisingly long uphill drive (400 feet or so, I think). Every hole requires you to hit a gap.

There are signs for every hole, which you'll need to find the holes. All the baskets are yellow Discatchers.

Cons:

Navigation isn't great, although I started on hole 2 and later saw the sign at the start of the course showing the layout. Still, the design leaves a little to be desired. Hole 2 plays to the top of a plateau with a great view of Hanscom Air Force base and a mouth-watering number terrain. Small pine trees, rocky bluffs, huge downhill opportunities...none of it is used (to be fair, I'm not sure the property line allows it). Instead you walk downhill for a fairly flat shot on #3.

No tee pads, which isn't a huge deal now, although it will be if the ground gets rutted out.

Other Thoughts:

First of all, let me applaud the designers for building this. We need more small courses, especially in disc golf deserts like the Route 128 belt.

Note, the site says this is private, and I suppose that is true. The parking lot was completely empty on Black Friday and probably is on weekends, so I think you're probably fine to stop by for a round as long as you are respectful.

This place isn't something worth going out of your way for, unless you're like me and want to play everything in the area. But it's a couple miles from Minuteman National Historic Park. If this area was good enough for Paul Revere, it's good enough for me.
