INFO
Milan DGC flows around eastern half of 160-acre Milan City Park beneath mature trees, over sweeping fields and between park facilities which include restrooms, amphitheater, pavilions, swimming pool, RV campground, horse arena, numerous athletic fields, dog park, playgrounds and R/C track. Starting near a central parking lot, the course zig-zags in a counter-clockwise manner towards a small pond at the back of the park which comes into play on two holes. The course then finishes behind the park's maintenance shed, just a short walk back to the parking lot and nearby field featuring a practice/warm-up putting area. Three holes share walking trails for tees while remainder of course uses dedicated, concrete tees.

EVAL
Relaxing surroundings lend a welcoming vibe to this course that invites players to traverse across the park on a winding layout with ample room for disc golf holes which nestle nicely amidst other outdoor activities. The first half feels like a walk in the park as the course warms up with approachable, sub-300 ft. shots. More formidable distances are gradually introduced starting with hole #7, building up to considerable 700 ft. hole #16 and 600 ft. hole #18 among the course's six 400+ ft. throws. In addition to covering lengthy and mostly open fairways on a third of the holes, the course calls for threading through trees on many drives and approaches. Two back nine holes even briefly duck into woods along the park's eastern edge where backstop fences behind baskets save throws from flying farther into dense woodlands. Penultimate hole #17 presents the riskiest shots of the course with drives that must carry the pond to a green that also threatens to send approaches and putts rolling into the water. Interspersed along the way are three distinctive greens worth noting: an elevated basket suspended between three trees on #12 raises putting expectations; #16's spacious, sandy green helps to lessen potential roll-aways into the nearby pond; and #18's aptly named "Rocky Top" green caps the round atop a decorative, stone-landscaped mound.

This charming course plays easily enough. Most holes are straight ahead shots that add difficulty with either trees to maneuver around or additional distance to manage. Only slight elevation changes keep it from being entirely flat. Distinctive features add thrills to this otherwise cheerful, city park course. Tees, baskets and signage are all really good, especially the tee signs which creatively incorporate hole sponsors into the hole names.

NOTE
The course features a "Game of Throws" putting basket game (an obvious "Game of Thrones" inspired neologism) with stations surrounding the basket from which to score practice putts for fun.

LAYOUT
Opening holes #1-6 set the stage by flanking an amphitheater, crossing a small ditch and then fanning out adjacent to RV camping beneath the shade of tall trees. Holes #7-9 expand the course's exposition and play out in the open with #7 crossing a small field, short #8 blindly skirting woods and #9 returning back across the field. A short walk north past the horse arena leads to hole #10, studded with mature trees from tee to green, and hole #11 that plays into woods for increased difficulty. Drama continues to rise away from the woods on holes #12-13 that circle the long way around a softball field before returning to the woods for short hole #14. Long hole #15 flies over open field to a treed green, and even longer hole #16 tees off alongside a softball field to fly over open field to reach a sandy, pond side green. Climaxing hole #17 intimidates with its throw across the pond. Finally, the denouement comes with lengthy hole #18 as it dodges trees toward an impressive, rocky conclusion.
