Run Those Putters 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 18, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

~Excellent layout for true beginners and children
~Well maintained, good park setting
~Easy to navigate, quick to play and warm up on
~Scorecards explain the sport for beginners
~Provides a one disc approach & putt warm up on the way to the Forest Course

Cons:

~Plays amongst other child friendly park activities, can be troublesome if busy
~Not really a con, but 2-sets of tees really aren't necessary for as short as the holes are even for beginners

Other Thoughts:

I've played some beginner friendly courses prior to this one, but the Field Course is definitely the shortest. For anyone with a couple of years or more of experience this fun little course can be tossed quickly with a single putter. It's a nice warm up and cool down for those venturing out to the Forest Course.

It's also an exceptional offering to true beginners and children. All holes are short and relatively straightforward allowing opportunity for learners to get familiar with the sport. Holes 1-4 are in the open and play around some planted fields and next to a small pond. Holes 5-9 loop throughout a wooded area around an outdoor play area. Nothing too technical but it gives the beginner a feel for open and wooded holes while still being extremely approachable.

I'd like to see more of these types of tracts adjoined to other more demanding courses, it provides great exposure and accessibility to people new to the sport along with a nice warm up and/or cool down to the experienced players.

Hits The Target Audience 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 25, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

The Field Course here at MetroPark Farms is probably the shortest course I've played to date. With all holes well under 200', this is a quick 15-20 minute solo round that can serve as a good warmup, or a place to introduce newbies to the sport.

The first 4 holes are in the open, followed by 5 holes in the woods. Every hole is easily aceable for experienced players, but beginners will find a fair challenge here.

There are two sets of tees (both natural), as well as quality DISCatcher baskets. Tee signs are marked with distances and pars.

Cons:

For a beginners course, the pond might come a little too close to a few of the baskets. Additional clearing could be beneficial on a few of the wooded holes.

It might be a longer walk from the parking lot to the first tee than it is to walk the whole course.

Other Thoughts:

Kept this review short, as there isn't a whole lot to critique. The Field Course is nothing more than a pure beginner level course, that hits its target audience.

You can see my review of the Forest Course on that page.
