Solid Course But Lost Me At The End! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 20, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

I played on a very wet day and thus left the on-line map in the car. Could've used it. The first five holes played out in the large open area of the park. # 1 has a nice starting area with a bench, garbage can, and a nice block monument with the course map. The course changes after the long walk to # 6 when you get to the first of the water hazards. The next few holes were technical in nature. Navigation was a constant challenge through this section thanks to damage of the teesigns. I had to spend quite a bit of time walking a up ahead to the next basket and then back tracking. And this was with the fairly helpful next tee signs present.

Cons:

Multiple pads and baskets in the open area combined with poor/damaged signs makes for confusion for us first timers to this course. These traditional opague tee signs are just so inviting for the local teen populations to grafitti up or vandalize. I see them destroyed at courses all over the country.
I'm never a fan of playing up and down park roads and maintenaince areas. That's always an ugly unattractive way to design a course and this was no exception. Luckily, as this was a wet day, there was no smell wafting through the air. There is a great risk of lost discs on this course. This is not a course to play alone. I never did find the # 17 basket and without finding it had no chance of finding # 18. In the rain, I just called it a day.

Other Thoughts:

Had I the chance to play this course on a nice sunny day, my thoughts on it might reflect brighter reflections in general. Somehow, sloshing through rain soaked lawns and hunting for discs in soaked bushes doesn't always give one the brightest overall picture of a course. But after writing over 300 of these reviews, I'm like a professional disc golf course reviewer. I'm truly capable of not letting cloudy skies, or a little rain, or lightning, or thunder or water soaked fairways or moonsoons or being carried away by flash floods, affect my reviews one iota. I'm beyond reproach. I'm totally unbiased. I'm as honest as the day is long. I'm practically Abe Lincoln.

And if you think I've underrated your course, I'll be glad to add an extra .5 to your course's rating for each $5 check received.

HOLY MANURE PILE!! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 14, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

looked to be a nice enough park for out door activities other than disc golf
bathrooms on site
another 18 holer to play in the St. Cloud area

Cons:

the front 9 holes were clustered together. did not know at first which was which because of all the dual pins and poor signage (signs apeared to have been vandalized - idiots)

unnecessary water hazzards. I can apreciate a water hazzard here and there but come on, it gets a little excessive on this course

there was a giant manure pile that we encountered early on in the back 9. wow! what a bad idea having a massive crap pile spewwing horrible stink into the hot humid summer air in a public park. wouldnt reccomend stopping for a snack on that hole

although it hadnt rained in a week or so the course was pretty wet and muddy. this was especially true on the back section of the course. got a feeling its a common problem given the amount of water that exists there to begin with

Other Thoughts:

I really wanted to like this course but a handful of little things kept me from it. then when we came upon the manure pile already annoyed from having wet and muddy shoes, it proved to be to much.......I'd say to pick a dryer year to play it and maybe sign some kind of petition to get that manure pile removed. only then would I go out of my way to play it again
