Great beginner course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 19, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Short Holes, Wide and straight, not a ton of trees to worry about, and losing a disc is rather hard. Not terribly busy if you come at the right time.

Cons:

Park people can get it the way, be prepared to yell fore, or duck if you hear it.

Other Thoughts:

I like just because its the closest course to my house.

Pitch and putt 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 26, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The course is in good shape. It is a popular park, therefore the area is well groomed. It is not terribly busy. This course is perfect for beginners or those who only have a short time to play

Cons:

THE BASKETS. They are rotten. The target is small, they will spit your disc out. Some are held together with duct tape. Park benches have some profanity scribbled all over, so be careful what your kids see

Other Thoughts:

This is an excellent course for beginners. Every hole is aceable. Come here if you are just looking for a warmup. Only bring a midrange, you won't need anything longer. Very wide open. There are no signs, but the course is short enough that tees are easy to find.

Fun Walk in the park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 7, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

You have to think of it this way, this is the oldest course in the state, the cone targets are what got the sport started. When you play Moir, you are playing a historic landmark. Use a lid like I did in the early 80's and you'll have more fun.

Cons:

Park can be crowded with other oark users, be respectful.

Other Thoughts:

I learned of the game at Moir, it earned a 2 rating only because I have fond memories. If you can't appreciate the history of our sport, skip this course. Or play it and be proud that you played the first course that MN ever had.

Conehead...it's French 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 13, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Old school cone baskets!!! Helps get your putts straight and low. Putter course. Great way to improve your short game. 9 holes, can be played very quickly. Great for a quick round of 9 or 18...or 27...or...

Cons:

Cones are loud. meh. baskets themselves are tricky to stay in. the course is very short. the park is a multiple use park and is packed with picnickers often. gets alot of traffic, usually jr high and high schoolers. the cones and baskets have taken a beating of the years. not just from discs but vandals.

Other Thoughts:

Great course for improving your putt and approach.

Old Skool 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 9, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Logical flow of holes
-Ace runs o' plenty!

Cons:

-picnic-ers often in the way

Other Thoughts:

It is what it is.

It's one of the original basket courses from the late 70's. Hole distances are appropriate for the technology that was available then. My advice is to celebrate the history by digging out your old Wham-o 169 gram catch plastic and play it old-style.

Nothing special 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 11, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

There isn't a lot of "pro's" about this course other then it's a good course if you want to squeeze a quick game in before it gets to dark. I usually go to the course to work on my short game and it's close.

Cons:

The course is a shit hole, It has horrible tee's and the baskets are saucers! There is always a bunch of punk kids playing with 10 of their friends and everyone throws 2-3 discs.. Garbage is everywhere around the course.

Other Thoughts:

Not worth the trip if you live far away.

Soooo Bad 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 12, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good for working on your short game. Also good if you need to get a quick round in. Its hardly ever busy, so you can usually get away with throwing a couple discs.

Cons:

Crappy tees, baskets(really crappy), and signs. Very little creativity and a bad layout.

Other Thoughts:

I will continue to play this course for reasons unknown.

Most Awesome Course Ever 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 14, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The course is set in this small picinic area so you can smell the barbeque sauce and grilled meat as you play. The holes are not far apart so you can easily skip slow and fat people. You have a chance for an ace on every hole. The entire course has a canopy of shade. The best part of the course is the alien baskets. Who can get the disc in these baskets really seperates the men from the boys.

Cons:

There are no cons this course is perfect.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 14, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Course is in the middle of a picnic area, so course is designed with that in mind. All short holes with practically no obstacles and very small elevation changes. Also saucer baskets provide a challenge.

Cons:

When I've played this course, there's always been random people walking around or playing near where the course is. You have to be constantly worrying about whether one of those kids is going to run right in front of your disc at some point.

Outdated and Easy 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 26, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Holes are easy to find your way from one to another. Easy to score well. I shot a 5 under (22) my first time around.

Cons:

The targets are the "old school" cones. There is minimal distance to any of the holes and used my putter for the entire round.

Other Thoughts:

This course has the potential to be a lot of fun, however it would entail creating holes over the valley and creek below the course and obviously extending the holes.

Short, Crowded, and out of the way 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 13, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Short with very straight forward baskets. Many baskets are protected by large trees. Still, there are many in the 120-180' range that will allow average players to feel like a pro.

Cons:

It was very crowded when I played it. The other throwers on the course were very helpful and fun. The other people using the park didn't give a flying care... avoid it on weekends and evening.

Other Thoughts:

The "flying saucer" baskets are worth playing at least once. They make a rewarding boing sound when you hole out.
