Pros:
Some beautiful terrain.
Well-groomed fairways.
Cons:
Terrible flow from hole to hole.
Virtually no signage or maps.
Baskets could use numbers, and a [bright] paint job.
No tee pads, just rather dilapidated wood planks to mark the end of tee area.
Other Thoughts:
I *want* to like this course. For a nice little 9, it's fine. Fun, tight, and technical slightly wooded play. Great for working on touch putter drives. But navigating the course is a major challenge, mostly due to a near complete lack of signage. There are a number of walking paths through the wooded area, so with the lack of flow, I ended up just wandering around between holes trying to find the tiny (if at all present) 4x4/circle tee signs. The baskets are pretty old Mach 5s, and with no paint or hole number indicators, make a first time through the course rather tough. As a previous reviewer noted, simply having a "next tee" hanger pointing towards the general direction of the next hole would be an easy upgrade.
That being said, it's a fun par 3 9-hole. The fairways were fair, and, at least when I played, really well kept. The roughs are rather rough. Think: if you're not within 10-ft of the fairway, you're probably going home one disc lighter - keep it safe, and everything is really reachable. I mostly played putter shots off the tee and kept everything in control.
I think with a bright paint job on the baskets, some moderate tee work (even just some turf tees would be a huge upgrade) and better signage/navigation, this could be a fun community course. As is, it's not really worth the drive out from PGH.
