Pros:
Mosquito Creek DGC is a short course between the two 18-holers in Cortland (Squirrel Run and Birdie Hill). It sounds like there has been trouble keeping Birdie Hill in playable shape, so it's a little surpassing that they would add another project to the list. Nevertheless, here's the review…
+ All tees are marked with posts and kick boards. The baskets are used, but still in pretty good shape.
+ This is a great little warm up course if you plan on playing one of the other two courses within a few minutes. It can also be used to introduce beginners to the sport.
+ Surprisingly, you do get a few elevation changes towards the back end. #6 was especially fun, along with the tough pin position on #7.
+ There is a decent amount of parking, as well as a permanent restroom on site.
Cons:
- 8 of the 9 holes here are 200 feet, with #9 being the sole 200+ footer. There won't be much of a challenge to seasoned players.
- The baskets are all incorrectly numbered. One of them says "10" lol.
- The tunnel on #3 is already overgrown and desperately needs a trim. The branches are hanging near ground level in the fairway.
Other Thoughts:
Despite being only 1500' in length, there are enough decent holes to make this a worthwhile beginner course. Great place to practice as well!
