Another Avery Gem

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 20, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Good signage
Cement Tee Pads
Very good use of the elevation
Very good use of natural fairways

Cons:

Not quite finished yet (when I played it), but very playable
Missing basket for hole 12 and tee for hole 13, but you get a bonus hole over the river.

Other Thoughts:

I had heard the course was rough from those that played it before me. However when I got there I found that most of the clearing has been done and the course was in decent shape.

the first several holes throw though an area with lots of small hills and a lot of tree's. In fact, most of this course is in wooded areas, only a few holes are in the open.

A few memorable holes including hole 6 that is near an old road bridge and then hole 7 that is next to the old railroad bridge turned into a foot bridge.
There is an old cellar on hole 8.

Hole 11 is the signature hole on the course and is very challenging. (in my opinion)

There is no basket for hole 12, but you can play to basket 13 which does not have a tee box.

There is a "Bonus" hole throwing across the river that can be counted as hole 13 for now.

After throwing 14, the next few holes throw back to where you stared with a few really good holes though this section.

Would I play here again? yes I would, and yes I want to when it is fully cleaned up and ready. With the other course across town, and the Lodge just down the road, you have 4 very decent courses in this area. I would argue this is a destination spot for sure.
