Swoosh... 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 25, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

~Solid 9 holer located within a multi-use park.
~Seemingly good layout.
~Re-purposed baskets being put to good use.
~Close to the Tri-C College course.

Cons:

~Jumbled layout, especially toward the end.
~Lacking navigational aids, tees can be hard to find.
~Hole 9 finishes nowhere close to Hole 1 or the parking lot.

Other Thoughts:

This course is situated in a city park adjacent to Tri-C Community College. The park itself is huge and has almost any amenity one could want, however the disc golf course is kind of tucked aside within a one way park road. I had low expectations once I parked the car purely based on 1st impressions, but was quickly surprised at a relatively good layout soon after starting my round.

I wouldn't consider this layout to have any bad holes, and the local club did a really nice job of carving out some really fun lines. Most holes have respectable distance, and involve enough mature trees to provide a good challenge to the average player. I really enjoyed 1 thru 7, while 8 & 9 are decent at best.

The toe boards are hard to find, I recommend referencing the course map on this website to get you started as well. There are a few signs with notes to some of the next tees, but you will still walk around a bit to locate the toe boards. Due to the distance, some concrete or compacted limestone tee pads would be a wonderful addition.

Hole 8 plays near the playground and basketball court, and Hole 9 which is carved into the woods is still rough around the edges. The tail end of this course is where it falls short. The course finishes at the back of the park road rather abruptly, and you then have a decently long walk back to the parking lot by Hole 1. While walking back I felt three more holes could have been installed with good flow that would provide a 12 hole loop of a course.

I had fun throwing here, and this is good enough that one could play this and neighboring Tri-C for a satisfying day, and if that's not enough nearby Lakeview and Veterans would surely appeal to any disc golfer.

Feels A Little Forced 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 5, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

+ Nike Park is the sports mecca of Parma. Just about any sport you can think of is here somewhere.

+ Baskets are recycled from "The Vet" and still catch very well, despite their fairly old age.

+ You have a decent mix of shot types here. While most holes are pretty straight, there's a few left and right twists to keep you on your toes.

+ This is the 5th course in Parma, so the disc golf scene keeps growing in south Cleveland. You now have 2 technical 18 holers (The Vet and Lakeside), 1 easier 18 holer (Tri-C), a beginner's 9 (The Green Course, and a slightly more technical 9 (Nike Park). All within one city!

Cons:

- I get the feeling that this course was kind of forced into the space and doesn't really appeal to any specific skill set. Despite most holes being under 250', you can't really call it a beginners course because of multiple holes in dense woods and the 400'+ bomb at the end. But intermediate and advanced players will find challenge on 1 or 2 holes, but the others would be easy 2's for the most part.

- The flow is a little awkward, as you do a little backtracking and criss crossing. #7 is a boring 150'ish hole that makes you backtrack the fairway to the 8th tee, which is right next to the 7th. Also, #9 doesn't end at the starting point.

- Natural tees with bland kick boards that are hard to spot. No signage (which may be coming soon I'm not sure).

- There's orange tape on the baskets that's meant to guide you to the next tee, but several are either facing the opposite direction or they're just non existent.

- It's flat and fairly repetitive, not any real hazards besides the large trees scattered in every fairway.

- Lots of traffic noise on holes 2-7.

Other Thoughts:

The course is only a week or so old but even as it matures, I don't see it changing much because it kinda is already at its peak. Not a fan of the design, and don't see a need for this course when you already have a bunch of 18 holers in the area.
