Pros:
~Solid 9 holer located within a multi-use park.
~Seemingly good layout.
~Re-purposed baskets being put to good use.
~Close to the Tri-C College course.
Cons:
~Jumbled layout, especially toward the end.
~Lacking navigational aids, tees can be hard to find.
~Hole 9 finishes nowhere close to Hole 1 or the parking lot.
Other Thoughts:
This course is situated in a city park adjacent to Tri-C Community College. The park itself is huge and has almost any amenity one could want, however the disc golf course is kind of tucked aside within a one way park road. I had low expectations once I parked the car purely based on 1st impressions, but was quickly surprised at a relatively good layout soon after starting my round.
I wouldn't consider this layout to have any bad holes, and the local club did a really nice job of carving out some really fun lines. Most holes have respectable distance, and involve enough mature trees to provide a good challenge to the average player. I really enjoyed 1 thru 7, while 8 & 9 are decent at best.
The toe boards are hard to find, I recommend referencing the course map on this website to get you started as well. There are a few signs with notes to some of the next tees, but you will still walk around a bit to locate the toe boards. Due to the distance, some concrete or compacted limestone tee pads would be a wonderful addition.
Hole 8 plays near the playground and basketball court, and Hole 9 which is carved into the woods is still rough around the edges. The tail end of this course is where it falls short. The course finishes at the back of the park road rather abruptly, and you then have a decently long walk back to the parking lot by Hole 1. While walking back I felt three more holes could have been installed with good flow that would provide a 12 hole loop of a course.
I had fun throwing here, and this is good enough that one could play this and neighboring Tri-C for a satisfying day, and if that's not enough nearby Lakeview and Veterans would surely appeal to any disc golfer.
