Play All Day 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 14, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

I have never ever ever had to wait on a tee. Living as I do in the SF bay area, that is no small thing. There is a nice variety of holes, some tight and narrow, others super long and open. The back 9 is really great. Did I mention there is never anyone there?

Cons:

The course is wet but I just played it in April, which is a wet time, and it was not too bad. There are way too many trees on the front nine -- lots of great drives get snatched up. And some of the holes are just kind of stupid.

Other Thoughts:

I had a truly wonderful outing here last time I played. Me, my brother, and two of our best friends. Got there around 4pm and played 36 holes. Finished in the dark. A beautiful day.

Second best free course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 6, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Free, Good mix of holes- Long 720 and short 150, Mostly wooded but a few wide open spaces to rip 'em in. Pretty technical overall, requires a little more finese than you might first think, Nice tee pads(black rubber), Best free course lost disc set up ever! (Its the little shed after 18)
Update- the 720 is shorter now, and the brush has recently been beaten, the dog walkers seem to be better but I still avoided a few landmines, the maps and scorecards are free and available at the bulletin board halfway along the first fairway-not the one in the parking lot.

Cons:

Can be muddy or even flat out flooded when it rains, Dog poops abound on the first few holes (near the walking path), When the weather is nice can be hard to throw first tee and thirteen for the sake of not hitting a dog walker or starting a game of dog grabs disc, Tees are hard to find first time out, handwritten signs on wood fall down and such...A few holes feel a bit ghetto- #3 and the dead fridge spring to mind , found the basket on #13 "unstable"

Other Thoughts:

Good free course, When dry a lot of fun, but as has been said lot of potential here. There is a leauge there too I think, info on the bulletin board
Update- much brush clearing has taken place this spring, The course is in good shape, 15 was still a little wet, but thats the woods! glad to be back!

Northampton State Hospital 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 9, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

Lots of different elevations, and lots of different shots needed. Also this course varies in distance which makes it even more fun. (150ft - 720ft) Also a great lost disc registry at the end of the course!

Cons:

Pretty confusing to find next tee, if I didn't have a map I would of spent days in there, but even with the map it was hard. Baskets are all different which isn't bad but some need to be replaced. Watch out for dog poop!

Other Thoughts:

Don't forget to pick up a map halfway through hole one. They are in the mail box behind the wooden thing on the right! On the main street of northampton there is a great store called faces, which is filled with lots of "interesting" things! Enjoy!

Interesting 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 10, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Conveinent
Free
No water to lose discs in
Pretty flat launch tees (looked like tarpaper on wood)
Fun course very interesting and fun and diverse

Cons:

Not well groomed overgrown grass and brush but getting better especially on #13 which is unplayable unless you play your shots up a narrow path.
Lots of brush, vines can be tough to find discs if you/your partners don't track them
Dog crap around since it is a very frequented dog walking area.
Poison ivy around

Other Thoughts:

Awesome course with varied shots and fun to play. This could be even better if it was maintained better(mowed and trimmed) and the signs were painted instead of marker written on wood. Potential is there.
