I Wish I Could Forget It...

Pros:
- nice brand new Dynamic Discs Patriot baskets
- well manicured park in the middle of Ft. Wayne
- decent concrete tees, though I've never seen them slotted like this
- full color tee signs with maps
- park benches throughout park
- practice basket
- some decent incorporation of elevation change on hole 3, and to a lesser extent on 4

Cons:
- major safety hazards; need to watch out for people in many areas of park, especially near walking paths
- probably one of the most poorly laid out courses I've ever played
- no logic to most navigation whatsoever and no navigation aids
- almost entirely flat and open; no real technical challenge
- really long walks between some holes that are completely unnecessary
- extremely boring for any player except a complete novice

Other Thoughts:
This course had no reviews and no pictures. I was passing through Ft. Wayne and figured I could do the disc golf community a service. Well, it was a painful service. Despite being new and having quality equipment, this is one of the worst courses I have ever played (well, at least one with no less than 9 baskets).
When you enter the park on Bob Arnold Drive, tee one is past the tennis courts on your right before you get to the pool. There are numerous places to park so it can be unclear. The practice basket is on the other side of the street from 1 and 2 just past the tennis courts.
It's almost like whoever laid this course out not only had no experience designing disc golf courses, but no common sense whatsoever. First off, this course wasn't necessary; there are a half dozen better courses in Ft. Wayne, so why force this if you couldn't make it decent. There are insanely long walks between holes 5 and 6 as well as between 8 and 9. After holes 1 and 2 you cross the street to the rest of the course but this isn't remotely clear. The practice basket is also kind of off on its own across the street, unmarked (and for awhile I was trying to figure out what part of the course it was). After playing hole 8, you walk all the way back past holes 6 and 7 to get to 9. WHY??? There are numerous options to make this flow better. In addition, all of these holes play through the middle of a fairly active park, with 6-9 largely playing near or directly over walking paths.
I don't often give out 0.5s, but in my opinion this course actually shouldn't exist. It's kind of a disservice to other parkgoers and the disc golf community. It's a good practice/zero challenge course for absolute beginners, but anybody else will be pretty bored.
Again, the equipment is generally very good; I suppose the slotted concete tees help with drainage which is cool - we'll see if they hold up and don't crack everywhere over the years. The biggest improvements here - besides a total re-layout, which would be welcome - would be next tee and navigation indicators, and hole numbers on the baskets.
I would play any other course in Ft. Wayne before this one. Unless you are just dead set on course bagging, this one is not worth the time/pain/boredom.
