Pros:
Nubbs nine is a top flight nine hole course. There's a good mix of open holes and tight wooded ones. All with at least a little bit of elevation change, a few of the have pretty extreme elevation. It's a small piece of land to work with but they did a great job with the design to fit nine excellent holes here.
The tee pads are concrete. Most, if not all have, have two tees per hole. I couldn't tell if hole 2 had a long pad. Now that I think of it I don't know about hole three either. The rest did though. The pads themselves are nicely sized, level and have good grip to them. No complaints with these. Same size pads for either tee too. A red painted front edge denotes the shorts while the white one are the longs.
Each hole has two baskets too. There's a white and blue Prodigy basket on every hole except hole 1. Hole 1 has a blue Prodigy and an elevated Mach or Chainstar of some kind. I don't remember which right now. A few of these baskets are elevated too. The rando basket one 1, and then one each on holes 3 and 5 too. Nicely done to up the variety.
The flow is pretty simple. I didn't need to use the map once after I found where hole 1 started.
There's tee signs on every hole too. These seem to just be temporary versions at the moment I'd assume. They have the basic info on them though. Hole #, map and distances. Plenty serviceable.
Cons:
The temp tee signs were in great shape when I played here, but these won't last forever. Many of them were missing, which is to be expected of signs like these. Hole 1's sign was clearly from an earlier iteration of that hole with only one pin in play. Not a huge deal as the two they have now are both visible from the tee.
LOTS of thorns and nettle off the fairways in the wooded areas. Wearing pants would be recommended here. You're almost assured of being in the rough at least once out here.
As was mentioned in a different review, the walk from nines basket back to the lot is pretty long and uphill the whole way. Minor annoyance, but worth noting.
Other Thoughts:
I was very impressed with this course. I'd love to have this one near me. I'd play it all the time. The two tees/pins combo make for such a great variety in such a small space. One of the better nines I've played, ever actually. Loved this course.
Not a destination course obviously, but absolutely worth a stop if you ever find yourself in the area. Really nice course.
