Favorite Fargo Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 15, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

I lived in Fargo for 5 years when I was a student at NDSU and this is by far my favorite disc golf course in the area. It also just happens to be the closest course to the NDSU campus and downtown area and is very accessible by car or bike. Course goes through a beautiful park that hugs the red river. The defining characteristic of the course is the large oak trees that are used as obstacles throughout the entire course to great effect. There are two pin locations on each hole that are changed fairly regularly to form two course layouts. Both layouts are very fun and challenge you in different ways. The course has a very good balance of short technical holes and long bombers. Not the most challenging course, but very fun to play. The park also offers many other amenities such as covered picnicking areas, grills, a playground, and covered horse shoe throwing area.

Cons:

The tee pads on the course are a kind of on the small side. Its not a huge issue because the course is fairly short, but there are a few long bombers that could use a full size pad. Its really nothing that can be controlled, but the course is often flooded by the Red River for most of the spring. There are often homeless people loitering around the outskirts of the park especially around holes 14-17. For the most part they keep to themselves, but there have been a few instances when they decided to camp out right in the middle of a hole with no intention of moving. I also once witnessed one of these characters get hauled away by the cops because he was too drunk to move on his own. I guess the cops are at least somewhat aware of the situation going on there. Besides that there really are no cons with the course.

Other Thoughts:

I played all of the courses around the FM area and this is by far the best. I really missed this one when I moved out of Fargo. I still try to play it every time I visit the area. I would highly recommend the course to all skill levels.
