A great start on a Backyard Course

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 6, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

On Private property, so only Disc Golf going on. $5 to play all day, but worth it.
Very nice turf tees on most, if not all, holes by now.
Mach V baskets are in good shape.
Really nice tee signs, they help once you get into the wooded holes.
First tee is right near the parking and a very nice restroom for player's use.

Cons:

A little bit out of the way off I-95 North, on your way to the Canadian border. About 30 mins off the highway, so not the ideal leg strecher course, but a lot better than the All Aboard course you pass on the way.
A couple of the holes cross fairways in the woods, not a big issue, unless things get real busy.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, the kind of backyard course most of us would like to have. Uses the rock walls, woods and open grassy area. Starts in the backyard right by the drive (there are even practice baskets in the side yard), then it heads down and up into the woods, before coming back and finishing within sight of the house.
Most of the holes are basically straight, with designed doglegs on #5 and #9. I think its #3 (or #2) that has a split fairway, forehand or backhand, take your pick. Always nice to have one of those on a course.
#6 tees mostly open, then heads down and into the woods. There is a large downed tree, nearly horizontal, that creates a unique obstacle.
#9 finishes in the open field, an uphill 213 footer to the basket surrounded by rocks and protected by a large tree, a good finishing hole that has great spectator views.
I'm glad I made the 1 hour drive from Bangor to check out this course (please call or text ahead of time, so they will know you are coming). I'll bet most of us would love to have this in our back yards, probably not a ton of upkeep, except the mowing of the open field. They plan to add an additional 9 holes on the property, but I doubt I will be back in the area to check it out. We will have to rely on one of the 4 digit baggers, or enragedmullet, for an updated review on that.
When I started writing this, I was looking at a 3.0 rating, but i can't think of too many issues that prevent it from being 3.5. So starting Oak Stone off with a 3.5.
