1) This course is owned, frequented, and always full of the friendliest disc golf people I have ever come across in my travels. You can certainly tell that Oggwood is a labor of love and an ever evolving to get better living breathing course. The atmosphere here is unlike any other I have experienced.

2) Initial impressions upon arriving at this seemingly middle of nowhere back country course is that there is ample parking, well maintained property (well mostly but we will get to that later) port-o-potties, a large house with a pro-shop inside, custom enormous art work course sign that the owner encourages visitors to sign their name to, a massive centerpiece "basket" that appears to be made from several old satellite dishes... Everywhere you look, you will see art in various forms, and every time you come back, you will find something you missed before.

3) I cannot stress this enough, Oggwood is AN EXPERIENCE more than a 4.5/5 rated skill level course. The rating may make people believe this course is as good or better to play than Cedar Hill or other Nashville greats, but this course is something that touches your soul in a way a great layout course simply cannot. It makes me believe this must have been the atmosphere when Disc Golf began, grass roots with people who just loved the game and each other and used what they had at their disposal to make the best things possible. It's hard to describe the feeling. You just have to experience it yourself.

4) The owner is probably one of the most down to earth, nicest guys I've met. He lets you play the course (which is his home) free of charge, allows travelers to camp on the property and even has several fire pit areas set up throughout the course to encourage camping, even has guest rooms available for longer term visitors. His home really is your home, and though he never asks for it, you feel obligated to offer to lend a hand in any way he might need if you spend enough time on the property.

5) Every hole on the property is a labor of love and it shows. There are what the super critical would call "gimicky" holes, but they just... work here. When you take the time to appreciate the course design based on the property size restraints, you begin to see it for the brilliance it is.

6) As for course ammenities, the tee pads are concrete and in great shape, there is wonderful hand made tee signs on each hole carved and painted into logs (a very nice touch), multiple pin locations, new and in good shape Prodigy baskets, and as stated above some form of art on every hole. The course is not visually pleasing on the macro level, but the small micro level details are top notch.

7) Navigation is pretty straight-forward, and once you've played here it's easy to navigate in future trips. There is only one long walk (from hole 5 green to hole 6 teepad beside the house)

8) Roughly half of the course is wide open while the other half is densely wooded. The hole distances are on the short side for most holes, especially in the woods, and you can tell it's a product of restricted land size. Oggwood makes up for that with every hole being a combination of elevation change, mandos, tight gaps, or tricky green and pin placements.

9) It is rare that I come across a course that is so fun to play that I am not concerned about my score and what I shot holds no bearing on how I felt about the course. While this course is shredable, it can have teeth if you are slightly off your game that day. The distances make this course family friendly and they often offer amazing side events prior to tournaments like Voodoo Dubs before Halloween (I can't explain it, you just have to attend) and the atmosphere is like that of a Rock Festival for Disc Golf.

10) Oggwood is roughly a 2 hour drive for me and I find myself trying to fit it on my travel map when I head south just to get it in despite having played it multiple times. It's like the disc golf course version of an antidepressant.

1) It is not a 4.5/5 level course in aesthetics, design, or difficulty. If that is what you desire, Cane Ridge, Cedar Hill and Seven Oaks should be on your list.

2) There are unsightly things as you progress, degrading farm buildings, burn piles, old cars on the neighbors property, trash and tire piles on the neighbors property etc. You will see this, but there's little the owner can do to prevent that. I suggest you focus on the love that went into the hole design and admire the hole from the tee pad as if it were a painting. Not everyone of them is great, not everyone will be liked, but it gives you a feeling of the effort that went in to it.

3) Old hole #5 runs along the property line and is unplayable due to a very hostile neighbor. I've heard he has calmed down some recently, but new hole 4 will seem kind of bland, but was a necessary add.

4) Unfortunately the "barn hole" #1 had to have the basket moved outside of the barn as the barn is beginning to deteriorate to a non safe to enter point. As the signature hole on the course, it is sad to see this gimicky yet perfectly executed hole get lost.

5) The open holes only offer a slight challenge in elevation change and distance, but each is unique and they won't blend together for you. It is a very minor con as I'm just nit picking at this point to provide the best information I can for those on the fence about traveling here to play.

If your idea of a great day of disc golf is playing the hardest, best laid out courses an area has to offer, Oggwood is not that and has never pretended to be. If you want a disc golf religious experience that you won't forget, add this to your bucket list and drop by (specifically when there is an event planned). It is a so-so course made elite status by those involved. You get out of Oggwood what you are willing to take from it. And if you don't enjoy your time, it's still all good.

Excellent layout and design. Great folks. Ingenious setups. #7 is amazing and so is #1. The back 9 is incredible, don't let the distance numbers fool you. Very challenging.

Signs appeared to be in the remodel stage. Hopefully they get them up soon.

Oggwood disc golf course sits out of the way northwest of Nashville , but every bit worth the drive . You will understand what I am writing about and know before you get to the driveway when you see a GIANT disc basket sitting in the owner's front yard . I was a little unsure of how to approach coming here , since it is a private course and there was no phone number or email address to ask permission . The reason is that this course is open to the public all of the time . He even has certain places for you to park . Camping is also an option here . After parking late Saturday afternoon , I looked for the owner and was told by several people hanging around that Phil was out on the course in a makeshift tournament with a few foursomes . Everyone here is laid back and nice . Everything here is unique and original . The concrete tees are large and level , the Discatcher baskets are yellow for the front 9 and blue for the back nine . The signage is on cut out stumps , yellow bordered for the front 9 and blue bordered for the back 9 , giving hole number distance and primitive flight path , with a place for a pin to show which location the baskets were in . I almost forgot to tell you that there are multiple pin positions per hole . Another unique aspect of this course are the benches cut out of trees . There is a kiosk near the first hole , the front of it being a hard to understand map , and the back is for you to sign it ( WOW ! This keeps getting better ) A practice basket is close by . Phil's house also doubles as a pro shop . There is a ping pong table there , and a chess set is set up on the back porch One of the men sitting in a lounge chair behind the house stood up and gave me a quick step by step of the course .Once you figure out the pattern , it is pretty easy to navigate . I won't give you a hole by hole description , but I will give the features . Hole #1 is a right to left short downhill drive into a barn , miss the turn and you have a problem . One of the most memorable starting holes I have ever played or even heard of . The next few holes are on the front lawn or side of the #1 tee . Another special hole is #7 ( ? ) , a drive into a gully with the basket encase in cut lumber . entering the woods , #9 is a tight downhill to partially uphill drive where you almost have to thread a needle to get through . the next 7 holes are in Phil's woods and becomes more technical . #13 gives you the option of throwing to a shorter hanging basket or a more tree guarded basket further down the fairway #14 is a technical shot to a protected basket slightly left to right . #15 is one of the tougher holes on the course , with a snaking uphill fairway around trees and brush . #16 is a good hole . It's kind of over a foresty gully with a lot of things to hit or plants to ricochet behind , kind of sloping left . #18 is a finishing bomber hole , sitting 505' if in the long position , with a tree sitting about 225' , slightly right and guarding a right to left drive from your Destroyer . The course itself rolls up and down and has some surprising elevation in the woods .A couple of mandos were thrown onto this course for good I am betting that it is always manicured about perfect . I finally caught up to the last 2 foursomes at #16 . Everyone couldn't be nicer here . You will never feel more welcome on a course than here . Disc Risk : incredibly low . This is a very clean course and the only way to lose your disc is to griplock and throw it over the fence line to the right side of Phil's property where the NO Trespassing signs are . . The course is still ever improving . Signature Hole ? The #1 barn hole , the #7 hole , #13 ? My mind is blown .

Maybe a few holes that give up early and offer less challenge like #' 2 , 6 , and maybe 17 ?

Phil didn't gear his course to be the most challenging , but he is in the conversation to be the most fun . I have played over 600 courses total in my life and never have I felt more welcome or that I belong than here . Phil gave me an enthusiastic handshake after my round was over , asked me if I needed anything , then made me sign the back of his kiosk . He showed me blueprints of his land survey to zone his property . I never heard of that before . Phil offers his time and property up for everyone . No one is more passionate about disc golf . He will talk to you about anything , but it will make it back to the game . If you are ever in the Knoxville area , visiting Bell Witch or even near Hopkinsville , make this a place to check out . If I was rating this course for the course itself , it might rate a little over a 4 , but the tangibles are a 5 , so I met in the middle and rated it a 4.5 Phil accepts nothing for letting you play on his course . If you insist , he may ask if you want to check out his discs for sale in his pro shop . I grabbed his hand and made him take some money because it is a private course and I know of the word upkeep ( offer him something ). I am sure I will come back here . My Recommendation : This is definitely a destination . Come to Oggwood and I guarantee you will be more than impressed . Fun Factor is over the top .

You start to get the sense from the drive in, past the verdant landscapes and rolling Tennessee hills, that this is going to be a special course. Oggwood delivers.
This was the most fun I've had playing a new course in a long time. Serene, beautiful, challenging, but also in its own way forgiving, demanding but also an A+ on the fun factor.
Can we talk about the giant disc golf basket in the middle of the front yard? How freaking cool is that.
Such a great variety of shots and use of the landscape, mix between field and forest, and use of elevation change.
Well maintained. Truly immaculate fairways. Great signage, teepads, baskets. Easy to find your way around.
Excellent balance between open shots and wooded shots.
A lot of really difficult shots, but also quite a few places to nab a birdie.
Really cool hole dug into the side of a hill surrounded by barrier polls.
This is one of those courses that can help you rediscover the magic of disc golf. So many little details and quirky characteristics without ever feeling cheap or overdone.
I didn't get to meet Phillip the owner but I met a few regulars there who showed me around, told me about the course, and played a round with me. Sounds like the course owner is also an awesome dude who supports disc golf to the max. They have created a little slice of disc golf heaven. If you are anywhere near the area you have to stop in and play this course.
I have a pipe dream of one day owning enough land to put a disc golf course into my backyard and Oggwood has given me a blueprint for that dream... a rough draft of my own disc golf Disneyland.

Ugh I don't even really want to because this course was so much fun to play, but here goes my attempt...
I could maybe see some advanced players thinking it's a bit easy. I certainly didn't think that. I'm not very good, and found many parts of the course challenging. But 16-17 did provide me with two consecutive birdies for my round, something that doesn't usually happen to me on most top level difficulty courses, so, might be of a sign of an easier part of the course.
It felt like the majority of the holes are on the shorter side of 300 ft. Again, certainly not a problem for my arm, but I imagine some of the folks who really like to bomb it may not love that.

Such an incredible course. Shout out to the owner for making something really special here.

-Good concrete teepads
-Baskets in excellent condition and well marked
-cool tee signs made out of stumps, concise and accurate
-multiple pin locations for almost every hole
-really cool rustic benches on every hole (I think, maybe one or two didn't have a bench behind the teepad)
-friendly owners
-challenging but birdie opportunities a plenty
-good mix of different shots, distance, and elevation
-well kept. grass mowed, fairways clear, etc
-clear navigation from Hole 1 through 18, no confusion where the next pad or basket is

-some holes somewhat overlap or bump into each other due to space restraints. This was perfectly fine for us since we were 3 of about 15 people on the course, but in a tournament style setting, this could create safety concerns
-a couple holes could be viewed as throwaway holes (17 comes to mind, short and no real trouble to get into) but these could evolve as the course matures. definitely not a major con here, I'm nitpicking.

We drove from Bowling Green to play this course, took us about an hour of winding through backroads and almost getting lost, and it was definitely worth the trip. I love backyard courses for the charm and passion that goes into them. It's also nice to just get out in the middle of nowhere with a couple friends and a fun disc golf course. We will be back for sure, hopefully after the keyhole is finished, it looks awesome already even though it isn't fully completed yet!

Oggwood is the type of course that you go home and tell your friends about. From that one shot that plays into a barn (Hole 1), to the giant satellite dish-turned basket (Hole 3, and which is available for play if you like), to the whimsical little sculptures here and there, to the very friendly staff, to the hanging basket (Hole 13 if I remember correctly)...

This course is very fun to play, super easy to navigate (great signage and markers at every basket pointing you to the next tee), and with some holes having different tee positions and different basket locations, you can have a different challenge every time you play. The owners are in the process of building a very cool and fun looking "key hole" basket placement on one of the holes.

Upon arrival, we were greeted, told to autograph the back side of the course map, and told that it's open "24/7-365. If you want to play a glow round at 3 am, come on out!" There is ample camping on site, and they have even built fire pits/grill locations!

Must play for anyone looking for a great round!

The only real con I have is the very few field holes. Not much they can do I suppose, but since I have to put something here, there you go.

Private course that doesn't charge to play with super nice owners, who simply enjoy disc golf and love having people play on their land.This is a private course, the only people you will see on the grounds are people who love to disc golf, which is absolutely fantastic.

Every tee had a nice tee pad with ample seating around. The majority of the back nine is throw woods and the owners have placed a broom on each use to clear tee pads as needed. The grounds were very clean with trash cans at every hole so people can pick up after themselves.

Signage was amazing. The owners have taken stumps and painted the maps on the top and labeled them with numbers. The front nine play to yellow pins and the stumps are painted yellow. The back nine play to blue pins with the stumps painted blue. There was also a push pin in each stump showing where the pin was located.

The open holes had a nice variety of challenges from long bombs, elevation changes, great pin placements and a mando or two. Owner is always looking to add a new challenge with a different pin placement or new tee box.

Wooded holes had nicely cut in fairways and were challenging and forced different kinds of shots. I threw two or three different tee shots on different lines multiple times.

A couple of the staple holes were #1, #7 and #12.
- 1: Easy RHBH hyzer shot into a barn
- 7: HUGE shoot, but with a tee placement inside a dug out pit for a neat change of pace
- 12 (maybe 13): a shot to a potential permanent hanging basket. They also had a second pin in to play to if you wished.

It would be neat if a few more mandos were added the open shots. For example #2 is a straight shot with the barn next to you that is easy to beat and get a bird.

Driveway and parking are things that I could knit pick on, but is that really the course....

Take the drive to play Oggwood if you are in the area. Its a fun course that will be a breath of fresh air getting away from the city to play on this beautiful piece of land!

If you've never played OggWood, You NEED to play OggWood!! This course is top notch & is located on a beautiful remote property. Every hole has a unique feel & was so much fun to play. The front nine are out in the open but still offer a nice challenge & the back nine are in the wooded backside of the property. It's clearly obvious that a lot of time and effort has been put into the design and feel of this course. The tee pads are now concrete & are in excellent shape as are the Innova Disc Catchers. There are huge benches made out of tree stumps and tree trunks that are so unique. There's also a couple tire swings out on the back 9 if you want to take a little break and let out your inner child.

This is the first private course I've ever played - so I wasn't sure what to expect. We showed up to play around 8am and parked right next to the owners house, which is located right where 18 ends and 1 begins. It almost felt like we were walking around someone else's back yard, but that's because we really were! As we were finishing up our round we saw some of the owners putting around. They were super friendly & appreciated all of the good things we had to say about the course & told us to come back and play anytime we wanted. They even have an inventory of discs for sale if you're looking to add to your collection!

I haven't played a whole lot of courses - but this one was so much better than others that I've played, I'm not sure I'll find another course that tops this one. I can't wait to come back and play again whenever I'm in town.

Great variety of shots from long downhills to extreme right turns, tight wooded shots and shooting over hills. Have you ever shot into a barn? Have you ever shot at a basket suspended from a tall tree on a rope that's moving ever so slightly? No, well here's your chance.
All concrete tee pads with alternate teepads on several holes.
Front nine baskets are yellow and back nine are blue. Tree stump maps on every hole. Homemade benches on every hole.
Not having to deal with people parking their cars on the teepads (Saunder's Ferry) or setting up hammocks on the course (Crockett).

The driveway is gravel and I drive a low car. No big deal to most people. My low car handled it fine but I probably won't bring the s2000 any time soon.
There was a large black dog walking around by the main road where holes three and four are. As I have been attacked by dogs off a leash twice (crockett and Liberty) and my son was attacked once (Henry Horton) I take caution around dogs I don't know. The dog never actually came on to the property where the course was.

I put a lot of pros on this course but I am forgetting some because all I could think about while playing is how great it is and how much fun I was having. I am disappointed that I didn't get to talk to the owner to tell him how awesome the course is. It is evident that he put a LOT of work in on this course. It's pretty amazing because as a private course it's nicer then just about any public course I've ever played. You should play this course as soon as you can.

- So many cool looking shots. You throw into a literal barn, you throw over a valley, you throw down a hallway of trees. Some holes have these weird tree or rock sculptures to add some flavor.
- Diverse and challenging mix of open and wooded holes. (The tight wooded shots of Nashville and the open shots of Kentucky)
