Play it if you can 2+ years drive by

Pros:

-decent 9-hole w/ concrete tees, fairly nice signs, and good use of some hilly and treed terrain on the campus
-grass mowed
-baskets were painted (with two colors for ORU color scheme), a decent caliber Mach, and in decent shape (though I can see what Chained Evil meant about the mower, evidenced by some dented cages)
-fun golf all around; good use of trees (I'd guess this is the reason for the long walk to 8's and 9's tees)

Cons:

-hole 8 now has two volleyball courts in the fairway
-distances between 7's basket and 8's tee, and from 8's to 9's, are longer than all the rest and seem a bit out of place

Other Thoughts:

Overall I was impressed by the holes, and this struck me as a pretty good 9-hole course with some nice terrain and decent use of the mature trees. The tee signs are very nice and look like they might even be from Houck designs. As mentioned, the walk to 8's tee did seem a bit long, but it's probably because any hole right after 7's basket would be a little too open. Now that there are volleyball nets up in 8's fairway, though, they might want to consider moving hole 8 to a new location.

I showed up on a weekday and I don't think classes were in session. I didn't check in with security, but I was also by myself and played a very quick round. Parking was no problem, and the gate was up so I parked in the student lot right by the first tee. Overall, playing here was easy and without problems for me.

The campus website says discs are available for checkout at the Aerobic Center on campus, but this may be outdated information. When I called them, they didn't know anything about discs for checkout. They did say that visitors are welcome to play, so I don't think it's typical for DGers to be kicked off the course. Nevertheless, be considerate and realize that it's a Christian college, where drinking and smoking are probably not welcome. I emailed campus security about the proper protocol to play here and have not heard back. If you want to make sure you'll be welcome and able to play, you might call security beforehand.

Rating: I'm between 2.0 and 2.5, so I'll go with the higher. Tulsa has so many great courses that I won't make it a priority to play here again unless I meet some ORU students that want to play some disc golf.

ORU 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 30, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a well maintained course with more than ample tee pads, good signage, and logical flow. Uses what elevation is present.
The middle holes make you shape your shots and there are a few holes where you can run the chains as well.
If you like to grip and rip then Hole 9 will be to your liking.
Hole observations:
1-Short uphill shot with the basket in the open
2-Low ceiling shot
3-has a narrow gap to hit in order to score well
4-slightly uphill, right side is more open
5-downhill shot with the left hand side being more open
6-uphill shot with trees upon approach
7-downhill shot with a low ceiling upon approach
8-basket is close to the parking lot so be careful
9-longest hole with the hyzer route(RHBH)being open

Cons:

A couple of the baskets appear to have been hit by a mower.
The walk from 7's basket to 8's tee and 8's basket to 9's tee are as long or longer than some of the holes here. I didn't understand why 8 was such a far walk, 9 I think they were trying to avoid throwing next to the parking lot. Whatever the designer's reasons it throws the flow of your round off.
9's tee marker is starting to peel.

Other Thoughts:

This is a private course on a college campus so I really don't know the particulars about playing here. I stopped at the guard shack that was in the parking lot and no one was there to ask what the rules are in playing this course. I decided to play it and I enjoyed my round here. I think this course could use a trash can or two and some numbers on the baskets would add a little touch. Its a nice little 9 hole course on a college campus and its nice to see another activity that the college students can participate in. Not a must play by any means but if you are in the area and can get on then I say play it.

Pros:

Excellent pads, baskets, signs, and navigation. Very nice upkeep.

Cons:

Very little imagination. Its a long walk from the parking lot to the course if you are a visitor.

Other Thoughts:

Play this course if you are an ORU student. Otherwise, don't waste your time - There are plenty of great courses in Tulsa.
