It Was A Pleasure To Talk Disc Golf History With Dave! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 27, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Oregon House is Dave's 27 acre piece of disc golf heaven. The slightly wooded property is a working farm growing olives, figs and dates. There are several ponds here and you'll be throwing over and around several times. It was great fun to play with Dave and hear all about his journey in discgolfdom.

The course starts and finishes up near the front of the property. The baskets are a hodgepodge so you never know which model you might be seeing. The tee pads are green indoor-outdoor carpet while the signs are simple little bricks with the distance written in them.

The course isn't overall long. I think every hole is between 200' and 360' but several are throwing slightly uphill and there always seems to several trees or bushes or ponds or OB in the way. I don't remember many holes being on level ground. You are always throwing slightly up or slightly down. The baskets are changed fairly often but today's configuration certainly favored a RHFH ( Did I mention that Dave throws strictly forehand?) although he swore to me that he isn't the one who sets the baskets.

The charge is $5 for all day and the course often hosts tournament play.

Cons:

Hodgepodge of baskets.

Somewhat technical but shorter distances might not challenge the better players.

Course is isolated from populated areas.

No one hole stands out as signature or favorite or super creative.

I don't know where they could park a tournament full of players.

A couple baskets are used two or three times during your round.

Other Thoughts:

Solid course which Dave is working hard at maintenance and also getting enough players out to turn a profit. There is enough of a fun factor for most players. There is enough challenge here for most.

If you haven't already been here, I sincerely recommend that you come on out here. Try your best to persuade Dave to accompany you on your round. The golf is fine. Play in one of their tournies. The course is worth the $5 and the best part is the money is most likely to be sunk right back into course.

A Series Of Fortunate Events 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 4, 2019 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Lots of benches, garbage cans and shade. Multiple pins on most holes. Water/OB/trees and altitude changes are present on every hole, sometimes in concert with each other. I enjoyed my second round a lot more once I got to play with the owner, as the guide they print out was semi difficult to follow. I enjoyed the huge majority of the holes a lot, even without a guide, and once Dave showed me the ropes I wanted to play two more rounds. There's also a water source and a portable potty. $5 didn't seem too bad for all day.

Cons:

Confusing guide. Out of bounds = Poison oak, which is not a huge problem. When there's water, folks will sink some discs, as the four ponds are smack dab in the middle of the course. The road in was a bit much for my city car, and the directions weren't sufficient for my city Google. I felt awkward during my first round playing near the house, though one of the toughest holes was right there.

Other Thoughts:

This course is pretty technical and OB/water/tree full for the first five holes, then increasingly longer and yet still technical on the others. It's not a bomber course, but it does ask one to throw hard up steep hills and with touch down tight fairways. I got the sense the course was made for the love of disc golf and the love of their property. I'll definitely play it again.
