Pros:

Parkside elementary school features a pretty solid 18 hole course. I recently replayed this one for the first time in probably almost ten years. It's still going strong and is honestly one of the better courses of this type in the state.

The baskets are Innova Discatchers. These are all still in great shape. They just seem to be nearly indestructable. One basket and pin placement per hole. No complaints with these whatsoever.

The flow is very easy to follow for the most part. There's not much for longer walks between holes or anything. The course basically plays clockwise around the edges of the school property, starting on the west side of the school.

The design is really good for what there was to work with here. There's not much in the way of trees for the majority of the course but they do incorporate a few on the last few holes along with the only little bit of elevation on the property. Five of the baskets are also tucked along the woodline which puts a premium on upshot placement. It's not much, but it makes it somewhat intersting at least.

There's tee signs at every hole too. These are the basic white plastic ones that are all over at school courses around here. Very basic but they have all the basic info needed. The best thing about these is they serve as a marker for the tee more than anything.

The course is free to play, permanent and will likely never ever be busy. Lots of open space too if you'd want to do some fieldwork.

Cons:

The course is not playable during school hours which is to be expected. It does really limit it's availability though.

Lots of basically wide open shots until the end. At least they mix up the distances a bit, but that doesn't diminish the fact that it's still mostly wide open.

Holes 13 and 14 have you throwing over the parking lot and hole 16 throws over an entrance road. Shouldn't be an issue since it's only available when school isn't going on though.

The course doesn't really start and end very close to the same spot either. Not that far apart, but worth noting. Hole 1 starts in a seemingly random spot too. It does make sense for the intended audience though so I get it.

Other Thoughts:

This one's not worth going any type of distance out of your way for, obviously. However, if you happen to find yourself near here it's a decent little course and worth a round. Better than the majority of WI school courses I've played. That's not saying much though. Good for what it is. The definition of reasonable.

Decent school course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 15, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

18 hole course that wraps around Parkside elementary's school and playground.

Decent Discatcher baskets. All in good enough shape, caught well, and mounted well. Not new, but not beat up too badly. One position per hole.

Most of the holes have a basic sign up. Navigation isn't too tough, as it basically winds around the edge of the large playground next to some woods. A couple holes out in front of the school.

Decent distance, especially for an elementary school. You'll get to pull back and actually power a few shots. There are a few nice shots throughout the course, especially the holes in front of the school. Nothing too technical or overly challenging, though.

Cons:

Obviously you can't play here during school hours.

Most of the holes are pretty wide open field shots. The distances vary a bit, which is nice. Not a terrible spot to get some field work in and practice your arsenal.

Natural tee pads that are slick when wet. Some were a bit rutted. I doubt this place gets a lot of action, so they should stay about where they are.

Other Thoughts:

If you factor in that it's an elementary school course, it's not half bad. There's really not a lot of challenge, but there's definitely an use for courses like this.

You certainly shouldn't go out of your way to play here, but if you're close and want to practice your big hyzers, this is the spot for you!

Easy but nice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 11, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice and easy. Wide open areas. You shouldn't be able to lose your disc here. Short distances between basket and next tee. Not busy on weekends. Nice signage and map of location of next tee.

Cons:

Not much of a challenge. Not usuable during school games, or practices. No water hazards. No major elevation changes.
You can't tell where the tee is. There is just tee signs, with no dirt, gravel, or cement tee, so you can't be sure where to tee off from. Also, a couple tees were broken, or missing, but it's fairly obvious which way to go.

Other Thoughts:

If you are a beginner, its perfect. If you are advanced, you'll be fairly bored. Also, the par numbers seem a little high, so you'll have an easy time to get some birdies and eagles.
