Pros:

Penfield Recreational Park is a good size township park that hosts Lorain County's newest disc golf course.

The park is just a 10 minute drive from one of the best courses in the state (Findley State Park), making it an ideal spot to warm up, practice, or introduce newbies to the sport.

+ Bill Vaughn, the course designer, is also the head guy over at Findley course. Just like Findley, Penfield is easy to navigate and takes full advantage of the resources available. Nice colored tee markers on every hole, as well as navigational signs on the baskets. There's no chance this course gets forgotten as long as Bill is in the area.

+ Despite this course being only 6 holes on a totally flat piece of land, there still manages to be some fun variety here. From the long tees, #2 is nearly 400' with plenty of room to let it fly. However, the course tightens up on #4 with a shot into the woods.

Cons:

- There are only 4 baskets, so it might be tricky to play when there is more than one group on the course.

- Both the white and blue tees are natural, while the red tees have a short concrete slab that's about half the size of a regular tee box. The natural tees will likely wear down over time.

+ Pretty much completely flat, with no water anywhere. Again, it's a great place to practice before hitting Findley. However, there isn't much challenge provided on this course by itself.

Other Thoughts:

There might be room for nine holes with an expansion near the baseball field, but I doubt this small township has the resources available for that right now. It would be nice to see in the future though!

Previously in order to find a decent beginners course, you would have to drive 25 minutes to Medina. This is a nice addition to the area that locals will appreciate. I'll be back to try and notch my first ace on this track (hit the basket on #3 the 2nd time through).
