Penryn Elementary School Disc Golf Course Is Set In A Wonderful Section Of Woods! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 26, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

As you turn Into Penryn Elementary School ( home of the Panthers) from Butler Road, there is a park-like area on your left, then a parking lot with some kind of solar panel facility and then another park area. The disc golf course starts in the park-like area closest to the school and then continues to the second. The # 4 basket and the # 9 tee pad were lost to the solar panel install.

There is a pad for # 4 and the basket was probably originally placed in the area where the fence is now. The # 9 sign and pole is lying on the ground between # 7 and # 8. This hole probably played across the area which is now fenced, too.

This was a very nice, well designed little course, well suited fir the elementary students it was built for. It's still good, It's too bad they lost this two holes. And it's a shame that no-one has stepped up and done a minor re-design.

The course has natural tee pads, old school fiberglass tee signs and DGA baskets with the number plate. There is a front board to mark the tees. Hole distances here are all less than 200', just perfect for these students. There are enough trees to force the kids to shape a few shots while learning to control their discs. This course is is an example of someone having a plan and building a course appropriate for the target audience.

Cons:

Parts of holes 4 & 9 lost to the construction of the solar panels.

Elementary school distances and challenge.

Natural tees.

Other Thoughts:

As with every one of these little pitch and putt courses, there are local golfers who come and play them, either as beginners or recreation players just enjoying the Ace Runs or players just enjoying a very casual stress free round. There were a couple young men here today honing their game on this course. It was a perfect fit for their skill level. It would be an average course if the two lost holes were restored, as it have to rate it a bit lower, 2.0.
