Eighteen differing holes, with the all 'B' positions ranging from 200' to nearly 800', averaging 430'. Good signs showing distances and current basket position. Directional signs at strategic locations throughout the course. Benches at every hole. Practice Basket. Next tee arrows on bottom of basket. Bathroom available near start.

About 1/3rd of the holes only have a single basket position. Gravel tee areas less than ideal.

Update 9/14/13: The teepade upgrade to concrete makes a great course even better!

Great variety from a course that plays up, down, and mostly across deeply-wooded sloping land. A couple very steep uphill holes, a few less-steep uphill, a few downhill, the remainder relatively flat. One super short/tight straight, a few short tight-turners, but most holes long and requiring multiple turns and very long approach shots - the day I played the course, there were eight holes of length 450' or greater. This meant I had several very long second shots, but the very rocky and/or steep and/or tree-rooted and/or thick grass made it nearly impossible to achieve any type of run-up - another difficulty to adapt to. Nice blend of left/right/S/no turning shots needed - I literally did use every disc in my bag.

Course is not suitable for beginners. Stout footwear needed, given the hiking and rocks. Off-target shots will be severely punished - you'll rarely have any type of decent line if you get knocked into the underbrush/thicker woods. Decent chance to lose a disc if you get knocked off the primary throwing paths, which are fair, but challenging. After finishing #7, tee #8 is to the left. Don't mistake the practice basket (straight) for basket #18 (to the left).

Favourite hole #3: Three pin positions, 550', 795', 935'. Need a long, maybe 350', straight shot with a short-n-sharp left fade, then continue straight on to the three possible positions, challenged by trees the entire length.

This is a fantastic course and will provide a real litmus test for players. Would love to see alternate pin positions at every hole, and improved tee areas, but a definite must-play if anywhere near the area.

nice maps and arrows under all of the tees make this course easy to navigate. small pegs in the sign let you know which tee pad is set up.
Super challenging course with some intense elevation changes in play.
Hole 1 sets the pace with an intimadating uphill shot that has you thinking, "what am i getting into".
There is a bathroom down by the water on the otherside of the parking lot. There is a playground and water activities for family members who do not play.
The scenery and creativity is worth the beat down this course can provide.

the frustrating part of this course was not being able to see the baskets. I think holes 14 and 15 were the only holes where you could see the basket from the tee. On some holes I threw par before ever seeing the basket. On hole 10 you can not see the basket until you are with in putting range. Hole 6 took several throws to get with in sight of the basket.

Also there are times when you are walking or teeing off and discs can come flying at you. you have to walk right through the middle of fairway 2 to get to hole 7 from 6. There is also a tee near the fairway of hole 2 and baskets 1 and 9 were back to back.

This is NOT A COURSE FOR BEGINNERS. Smaller children will find it difficult just to walk the course. If you are looking for a family friendly course I hear Boulder is better.
Forget par and plan on staying a while. This course measures about 7,700 ft from tees to baskets. you will end up walking about 3 miles so plan on being there for 1 1/2 hours solo or several hours with a group.
BRING BUG SPRAY! wearing hiking shoes would be a good idea too, the terrain is rough and in some parts very muddy and wet.

Signature holes:
1. intense uphill 242ft. Par 3
9. 300ft straight down hill
10. starts uphill with no sign of a basket and ends going downhill after a turn.
11. steeep uphill shot 444 ft.
17. interesting downhill shot that appears far more difficult than it is.

Nice woody course tucked into hillside and top in Pinchot State Park, Quaker Race area. Good signage at every hole including distance, pin placement (most have 2 locations), par, and map. Arrows at each basket to next tee. Kiosk below first hole has nice scorecards (incl same info as above) and other course info. Fairly well laid out, takes advantage of elevation with some wicked uphill & downhill holes, and despite woods, most holes had clearly defined mown fairways. Crushed stone tee pads. Benches at most tees to relax or wait for the preceding group.

Challenging course with as much diversity as possible in limited area forces range of throws uphill, downhill, right, left, short, long.

Few cons. Potential for confusion finding next tee if not paying attention (e.g. 4th tee). Heads up, must cross 2nd fairway to get from 6 to 7. Tee boxes not always well defined. Poison ivy abundant in places.

16(B) was my score killer.

I played this the day after local tourney Llamapalooza so course was in very good shape. I was under impression that club did a lot of work to prep course for this weekend. Not sure if always in such condition as it requires a fair amount of maintenance (nice work Llamas).

Reading other reviews, was worried that this course would be too discouraging. This was not the case. While it is challenging, it is far from unreasonable. I'm a recreational player and was a few horrible putts away from averaging bogey scores, birdied one, parred several. My father enjoyed this course despite inexperience, only 3rd course played. I'm generally not fond of all woods courses but this one is favorite of the bunch & will look forward to returning.

I understand that there are some rare or threatened plants in area, so don't wander and pay attention to OBs.

• Fairways were much better than expected (I was expecting ridiculous; this is normal PA disc golf to me - challenging mentally and physically)

• Nice balance of holes for those who throw right or left handed.

• In a PA State Park - guaranteed quality DG.

• No 'wide open' shots; lacks variety

As I approached the tee for #1 and looked up, I knew I was home: Significant uphill elevation, tight fairway with rough that would severely punish an errant throw, lots of rocks, a detailed tee sign & bench to sit on; bugs, pollen, heat, humidity, sweat...and that feeling I get when I go to a new disc golf park: excited with anticipation to see what unfolds. This one did not disappoint as I was expecting a long, physically & mentally demanding Pennsylvanian hardwood disc golf course and that's what I got.

I imagine my experience differs from other reviewers since there's a tournament this weekend and the course appears, from what I can tell for just the first time being here, to be in pretty gosh-darn good shape. The fairways were mowed, the rough less dense than anticipated - there were even OB markers on some holes! Therefore, I didn't have trouble locating an errant throw which certainly kept the frustration factor focused on the technical nature of the course rather than my mistakes. This in turn increases the 'fun factor' which always helps on challenging courses. Four Discs!

Extremely Challenging!!! Well thought out course. Very interesting layout with many different types of throws required. Both times I played the course, my friend and I were the only ones on the course. This is a beautiful course set in the woods at Pinchot. The first hole just intimidates you looking up the hillside to see the basket up on top. Number 3 can either be exciting or make you want to end your round early, depending on how much you hit trees. I am proud to say I parred the hole the last time I played and it was in position A which I know is the easiest, but hey, I felt good. Each hole on the front gives you a chance to use different throws and discs. There is a good mix of long and short, so it doesn't feel like you always have to wing it as hard as you can. The more intelligently you play this course, the better your score will reflect. What I mean is, if you throw it in the bush and you have a clear chip out versus a risky shot to go over top and a little further...take the short throw out and set yourself up for a better next shot....this will help you more in the long run.

Extremely Challenging! This course is really difficult. The easy holes here, are still fairly difficult, but the hard holes, are really hard. I would definitely bring bug spray because at some point you will pull a tick off of you because your disc didn't go perfectly straight. Some holes are extremely long with a very narrow fairway.

I liked this course a lot. It is very well thought out and different from many of the courses in the surrounding area. I imagine that I will enjoy this course more when I can throw it longer and straighter off the tee. The more you play this course, the more you feel like you want to conquer it. It is far more challenging than boulder, and it makes you feel like a champ when you play boulder after Quaker. I can't imagine many ace's happening on this course, but you never know!

IF YOU HAVEN'T PLAYED THIS COURSE, YOU ARE MISSING OUT

This place will challenge if not break you. A completely wooded course boasts elevation, looooong fairways with plenty of trouble all around, multiple pin placements, big wide gravel tees that are in good condition for a woods course, and enough overall difficulty that your game will be honed as your ego is crushed. If your a beginner go play across the lake at Boulder Woods. If your cocky, foolish, or have a disc named after you then play here! Hole Breakdown as follows,(all heavily wooded):
#1 is a rocket spike shot straight up 290 ft but feels like 400 due to the vertical climb needed.
#2 a long slightly uphill drive 550 ft to a clearing
#3 the uber super challenging flat winding tight but not impossible par 6 953 foot hole....ranges from par 4-6 depending on pin position. Could be 2 par 3s but is instead a unique chance to play for the albatross!
#4,5,6 all play flat shorter but tight and difficult
#7,8 are longer and difficult still flat
#9 is fun controlled downward drive to a fast green with the basket teasing you to go for it! But don't overshoot.
The back 9 is just as difficult but has more fun factor:
#10 an uphill long hyzer very fun hole
#11 another big uphill drive to a protected basket
#12,13 hyzer, anhyzer combo
#14 tight drive off of elevated tee
#15 catch your breath-low ceiling precise 150ft drive
#16 another long challenging drive
#17 funnest hole on course IMO-drive downhill to a basket below- aceable but also plenty of trouble if you mess up the drive
#18 finish on a unique downward hyzer that goes into the clear and back into woods, but if you throw too far or flip it over your toast, too short your in deep trees, hit it just right you can have a 2...a great tournament finishing hole...I could see 2 players playing for a title here and one getting a deuce here and the other flipping it over ,due to sudden wind from lake?, back over road or ending up in jail and taking a 4-5 and swearing at themselves, their disc, or the designers. Great hole!
The theme is length and trees here...fairways are reasonable for fairway length. Stop bitching and start focusing. Well Marked.

Could be too grueling for some players...this course is exceptionally demanding

This course along with French Creek, Nockamixon, and Whispering Falls to me is pushing Pennsylvania to the forefront of Wooded Disc Course excellence. I would expect some very good players coming from this area if they are able to play this course regularly. Nice job LLamas I will return!

Definitely a beautiful course. You'll love all the trees and the bushes... unless you don't like the hoards of challenge this course will present to you. Excellent course for the pros, by my estimation. I also liked the fact that there were either real benches or logs to sit on the vast majority of the holes. All holes had maps to show you where to go, so that was also very helpful.

About 30% of the time, I personally was looking for a disc I threw. I passed another group, and I think they were looking for discs a lot too. I can tell you that on the sixth hole, I was looking for a disc for about ten minutes, and I considered this disc to be on the fairway! You can easily lose a disc here if you make a bad throw as well, especially if you throw it too far to one side. You do have to cross the second hole to reach the 7th tee, and I also found the 8th hole before I reached said 7th tee. Finally, I don't think that this course bodes well for you if you're a beginner. (156 throws for me, which includes four penalty throws)

You need to prepare for this course like you would prepare for a challenging hike: that means you should wear jeans and hiking boots. If you don't have hiking boots, you definitely should wear sneakers, but sandals and shorts, like what I was doing(I'll admit it!), are a definite no-no here. If you play during the morning, your legs or pants will likely get wet. If you play during the summer, you will be ambushed by flies. Finally, you will run into sticker bushes and thick grass all over the place, whether you're in the fairway or not. So, bottom line, be prepared!

This is a great course for Pros to play on. Has long distances, with many Trees. A great course for Worlds to appear on. Multiple pin positions can change the courses feel substantially.

The course could still be cleared a bit more. Saplings could be removed.

In the parking lot by the water tower there could be a disc market.

Beautiful course in a great setting. Can hardly wait to see what it looks like this summer. Many kudos to those that have put this course "on the map." Signage is well set, benches are at every hole, and the grooming is very well.

Nothing other than the uphill climbs for us that are a little out of shape!

If you love disc golf, you MUST come play the QC. Ok so my very first round there I shot a 133 but with that in mind, I will only get better and so will you!

In my opinion, this one is already one of the best in the state and it's only getting better. A great mix of righty and lefty holes, some shorter and some way long. Every hole has alternate pin locations and some of the most dramatic elevation changes I have personally played.

Considering the course is still being developed and groomed I don't have anything negative to say about it, except for those rotten thorns, but if you keep it in the fairway you don't have to worry about them anyway. Although as of now the tee boxes are still natural turf it won't be that way for long.

The club that is building this course (The Fighting Llamas) are some of the best and most dedicated people to the sport. They have put and continue to put many, many hours of labor in to getting this course to realize its full potential. I see some major A Tier events in QC's future.

Nice signs illustrating the holes. Tough fairways with thorny consequences. Nice mix of elevation. Many of the holes have two or three pins. Signs are nice and benches are provided on a few of the holes. Baskets are, for the most part, still in great shape. Gravel tees are nicely groomed and had no puddles. I liked the tunnel shot on 15, the downhill holes, and the good mix of some shorter threes to go along with your heavy dosage of 4's, the occasional five, and a six in the 935-ft position on 3.

The course is Thorn City, USA. As with a typical PA state park course, the course is prone to being wet a lot of the year. Definitely not a course for the below average player. May feel a tiny bit repetative, but as long as the pins change frequently, it will change a player's perspective a bit.

Very enjoyable course with nice view of the lake and the par 54 Boulder Woods course conviently on the other side, this makes for a long day of disc golf. A quiet setting merely ten minutes from the state capital.
