Fun shots, rough setting 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 16, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course plays in a rocky desert area with scattered trees and plenty of brush. If you miss your landing zone, you often have awkward shots out of, over or around chest to head high bushes, great punishment for inaccuracy. A few of the holes use the large pine trees to force some specific lines off the tee, the rest put more of a premium on hitting a spot than line shaping with multiple ways to get to the hole. Large rock piles come into play, with a few shots over or around the rocks.

There is some variety in the kinds of shots you'll need here, and the alternate tees add a little more. There are three pads for each hole with a sign at the white (middle) tee showing all three lines and distances. A few holes change things up from the different tees, others just have slightly different distances on similar lines. The staff was very friendly, and provided a map of the property to get to the course and a map of the holes.

Cons:

There isn't a whole lot of length, it's mostly a putter course for better players. Many of the holes offer open hyzer lines, lowering the challenge level even more. Most of the interesting shots I had were when I screwed up my tee shot and had to get creative on my upshot. The tees were pretty bad, most were rutted out or had large weeds growing in them and even with the map it was a little tricky to find a few of them.

Other Thoughts:

Beginners might find some parts of this course a little rough, especially with blind landing zones that have brush to hide discs. It's a reasonable length and difficulty level overall for newer players though. More experienced players won't find a ton of challenge, there are a few fun shots but the rest is pretty straightforward. Don't go too far out of your way for this one.
