The Pinnacle of Atrociousness 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 8, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Hills and trees of New Hampshire. Walking along the old ski area, including a dilapidated wooden ski ramp.

Cons:

Played this course in September, 2017, and it is abysmal. The course location is behind the school, there is no longer a tennis court to help find it. If playing during school hours, parking is nonexistent. The hole signage is missing. The tee boxes are rutted and unmaintained. A player will not be able to negotiate the course as there is no usable course map. The Baskets are early DGA models, rusted "spitters" located in areas that are dark and shielded, hard to see.

There is nothing of note on this course...the location is inconvenient, the town offers little in the way of restaurants, etc.; the baskets are antiquated and weathered; the signs have mostly been removed; the cinder tee pads are rutted and unsafe; the walking paths are slippery and the wooden stairs for elevation are rotted; many shots are "blind" basket shots, and with no tee signs for direction or distance, you'll end up scouting most of the holes.

Other Thoughts:

This course is neglected. It is truly a lousy time, and coming from the excellent Mount Sunapee DGC the same day, this course was particularly disappointing. I was hoping for much more based on the experiences of others, but it is not worth the time or effort to drive to this course. Frankly, after playing Sunapee in the morning, Pinnacle at noon, we couldn't call it a day until we went back to Sunapee just to get the bad taste of Newport, NH's Pinnacle out of our memories.

I cannot think of one thing to recommend this course. I'm an "easy grader"; this course gets an F.
