Stereotypical SE Florida Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 6, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

The course shares some good traits with other area courses like minor elevation changes, nice grass fairways, decent tees and signs, and plenty of trees to work around. She is not the most scenic course in the area, but she is somewhat pretty none the less. There is a fair mix of hole types here and the course is fun to play.

There was an abundance of waterfowl on this course with one fairway being completely covered with several types of ducks, geese, and egret type birds!

Cons:

The course also shares some of the negative traits with other area courses. There are a lot of roads and sidewalks winding through the course and a good chance of there being nondgers hanging out on the course also. Navigation might be a little tricky in a couple of spots for first-time throwers here. I would use the map or get a guide.

If you REALLY don't like spiders and snakes, this might not be the best course for you!

Other Thoughts:

We had a good time playing this course. It might not be quite a destination course, but it is solid enough if in the area and pairs well with the Jetstream course.

Oh yeah, watch out for those Pokemon hunters. They like searching this park!

Plantation 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Aug 6, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

18 holes with Chainstar baskets in good shape. Concrete tees for every pad, and three pads to a hole. Signage is at the am pad, and the signs are really nice. Course offers a nice mix of open and wooded holes, plus 5 holes that border a large pond. Restrooms and water fountains available. Nominal park entrance fee on weekends and holidays.

Cons:

The walking path comes into play on a number of holes and so too does the entrance road. Please take caution near these areas. No real elevation other than a small hill on a few holes, but that's typical south Florida disc golf.

Other Thoughts:

Heritage is a good challenging course that will offer a little bit of something for everybody, from longer drives over OB water to tight, challenging wooded holes like 6 and even some birdie opps if you have the distance. It is well maintained and offers a weekly league night during daylight savings time, and is in a rotation of Saturday league courses. Most disc golfers would enjoy this course. By no means this is a destination course, but if you have time and find yourself in or around Fort Lauderdale, come west and give Heritage a go.

I think you will find something to like 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 3, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Excellent support facilities such as water and bathrooms. Pretty good blend of open and wooded holes. Water in play :). I played on a beautiful Thursday, and was there were only 2-3 other players.

Cons:

No tee pads ( I hear they are coming). Blue tee markings are very hard to locate. Water in play :( .
Did run into some people fishing that I had to anhizer around, but no big deal. Personally I hate dealing with avoiding fences, and that does come into play on 3-6-7.

Other Thoughts:

If you are not local a map is a must. I thought hole 10 was my favorite. Up hill into a circle of trees. On hole 13 the basket is well hidden in some bamboo. Basket 15 took me a while to find even with the map. Hidden behind a cluster of trees. It's a good hole once you locate the basket. This is the best course I have played in south Florida.

A Welcome Change 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 20, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

-A nice mix of open and protected holes.
-Very pleasant and scenic walk around the lake
-New baskets with sold anchorage. The baskets aren't just put in to a hole with a cement base.
-Well marked Tee locations

Cons:

-Although well marked, the tees are all natural as of right now
-No signs at the tees
-Hole placement is a little off on a few holes.
-Hole 8 stays 362, but the Tee has been pushed back a long ways so it feels like it's pushing the high 500's to 600' mark. Even though it's an open hole, Novice players may feel comfortable upping the par to 4.
-Would like to see more trashcans.

Other Thoughts:

Great all around course for all levels. Enough room that if you're skittish about playing over water, you can play safe to one side and then come at the basket from a safe angle.

course just opened 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 11, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Brand new Chainstar baskets
- A nice mixture of water, open and woods
- Very scenic
- Plenty of restrooms, parking, and vending machines
- Great course for all levels
- There are now three tee placements (pro,AM,junior).

Cons:

- Currently only natural tee pads
- no tee signs (map is available in the park office)

Other Thoughts:

The course will eventually have concrete tee pads, tee signs. At that point the course will have earned a solid 4. WARNING! Even though the park is very safe and patrolled regularly by police there has been a rash of car break-ins. Do not leave valuables in your car. Place all items in your trunk. Consider parking at the main office if you are traveling and cannot leave your items back in your hotel room.
