More Wooded Than Quaries! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 8, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

The name Quaries is a bit misleading I feel as the course had much more of a wooded technical feel to me. There were a couple wonderful views of the quarry and the one hole, # 5, which had you throwing over the water.

The signs are nice colored metal ones showing a map of the hole as well as the distance for both the longer Blues and the shorter White tees. The pads are packed gravel outlined with granite blocks. The baskets are DGA models Mach 5 with the red numbers on top. There are some helpful next tee signs about the course.

I really liked # 5, the simple little throw over the quarry waters. It's only 163' but it's a few feet higher on the other side. And it's a really pretty little hole. On the other hand, I really didn't care much for # 9. It's a 573' par 4 that plays up a road with unforgiving underbrush on both sides. So that's one hole I really liked, one that I really disliked and 16 others that were for the most part, forgettable.

Cons:

The course was quite marshy walking to the # 18 teepad.
The quarry didn't come into play as much as I had hoped for.
Not much of a"Wow" factor here for me.
Would be a little tricky to navigate at times with all the extra signs attached to trees for cross country skiing /snowmobiles.

Other Thoughts:

The course plays as standard recreational level course until you come to # 9, which is a advanced hole all the way. I'd like to see it shortened by about 200 feet.

I was able to join up with Heidi and her boyfriend. I would like to thank them for showing me the course. Heidi joyfully picked up every bottle and can she came across. Every course needs someone like Heidi!
