Tiny, smashed in school nine 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 2, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

The white powder coated baskets are all in good shape. They are level and catch nicely. There are signs for every hole. These are in good shape and show a basic route to the pin, hole number and distance. They also had a nice looking map of the course before hole 1. This was pretty helpful. They have 3 longer open holes along with 6 tightly wooded holes on this tiny section of the property. They do a good job using the elevation here on 2 holes. The open holes offer some much needed distance to add variety. The wind could be a big factor on these holes.

Cons:

About half the holes are ridiculously short. These are basically like putts in the woods. I played in November but I can imagine with leaves on the trees some if not all the wooded holes would be impossible linewise to the basket. Especially the uphill hole. And the 90 degree downhill dogleg on 8. It can be confusing in the woods with all the baskets being right near each other. At least the course map is really close. Also most of the wooded holes are practically on top of each other posing a potential safety risk. I can't see this ever being busy though. But if they do use it for gym class there's some risk. It is on school property so it is unplayable during school hours. The 3 open holes throw either over or very close to the athletic fields. This is an o.k. course for beginners but the short holes can be frustrating with all the trees and the long holes can be equally frustrating with the huge difference in length from the wooded holes.

Other Thoughts:

They did a really good job fitting nine holes in here. It IS better than nothing but barely. If you're in the area check it out but don't go anywhere out of your way to stop here. I played this after playing Madman's DGC in Owen nearby and had a good day of discing. If they trim some of the foliage it would do wonders on a number of the holes. Since this is a newer course they may do this and that would boost the rating slightly.
