Short course, pretty setting 2+ years drive by

Pros:

•Randolph College DGC is a fun course in the middle of a college campus near downtown Lynchburg. The course itself plays around buildings, by parking lots

•Well maintained area with manicured grass, tall evergreen trees, pretty buildings, and a nice amphitheater.

•Plenty of ace runs help the course to remain interesting for more experienced players.

•Great scenery in the area and great views of college buildings.

•The elevation on holes 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, and 9 really add a great dimension to this course

•Not crowded at all with pedestrians. I also saw no other DGers on a weekday evening. This may not hold true when the weather is better or when class is in session.

•This course is a quick play located near other area courses and can be easily added to a road trip to pad your course count.

Cons:

•This course is DANGEROUS! Hole 3 is probably one of the most poorly planned holes I have ever played. The student parking lot lines the entire left side of the fairway. Secondly, if other groups were playing nearby especially on the first few holes you would definitely have to wait to throw due to the close proximity of tees and baskets. Thirdly, the drop off on the left side of hole 4 is extreme and could make finding a disc very precarious.

•The signage is lacking on the course. Instead of signs there are wood pieces staked in the ground marking the front of the tees. They are sometimes challenging to find.

•The course feels somewhat cramped into a small area. It is especially evident on holes 1, 2 and 9.

Other Thoughts:

Serene setting, pretty college buildings and overlooks athletic fields. This course is short, but enjoyable. This really is a great place for safari golf with well-placed baskets and great elevation.
