Best of Both Worlds 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 27, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This course offers the best things for people who like wooded courses as well as open courses. I found that this course favors the strong arm because once you get through hole nine, it gets very spacious. Hole 12 rounds 899 feet which can be a bit of a trouble for a player who prefers par 3's and 4's. The park is very well maintained and very scenic.

Cons:

The signs need to be replaced because some have been broken and some don't list the par. Also I think one of them was facing backwards. It can be quite easy to lose a disc if the retaining ponds were full and if you don't watch where your disc lands while in the woods.

Other Thoughts:

Favorite holes were 9, 15 and 18. 9 is the last of the first set of wooded holes, i like this one because i nearly have aced it twice. 15 is a good straight open shot with a row of trees running parallel along the fairway.and finally 18 is a favorite because the pin is located on a mound of dirt that can be challenging for a longer putt.

Least favorite hole has to be 6 because there was no sign telling how the hole is layed-out and you have no idea what par it is. The hole makes a dog leg right and becomes a bit too difficult.

Woody and Buzz 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 7, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Excellent signage, especially for the wooded holes. Signs at tee will show distance, path(s) to basket, next tee location. At basket, red spoke indicates direction of next tee, as well as some signs on trees.

Two 9-hole loops both ending near same parking lot.

Within 1.5 miles of I81, restaurants and petrol stations nearby, bathrooms at site. Located in large multi-use park, including a large pool/water park.

Favourite hole #16: 560', first 2/3rds in open, last 1/3rd in woods, retention basin directly between you and basket. If you play to the right, you then have a long right-turning shot to reach the basket deep in the woods.

Cons:

With leaves on the trees and water in the retention basins, the chance of losing a disc is a bit high.

Wooded holes play amongst multiple walking trails, so be aware of non-players.

Very long walk between holes 10 to 11, 12 to 13.

Least favourite hole #6: After smashing your discs against trees the first five ~250' slight dogleg holes, you get to do so for 450' on this tight right dogleg! :-O

Other Thoughts:

To find tee #1, go left after entering the park, past pool, past gazebo on left, large parking lot on left just after.

Holes 1-5, 7-9, 17&18 are very similar - in the woods, slight doglegs (about half to the left, half to the right), between 183' to 335', most in the mid-200's.

Holes 10-15 are mostly open, bring water retention basins into play, and vary in length from 250' to the monster 860' that is #13.

After finishing #10, follow the fence on the left until it turns sharply to the left, where you will find tee #11.

After finishing #12, walk along the fence, keeping it and the soccer fields to your right, and the woods to your left - you'll eventually find the tee for #13, with its basket being 860' away, down then way to the left.

Fun and challenging course - a bit repetitive in the woods, so the option of airing it out the next few holes is a welcoming sight.

Great new course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 13, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Easy to get to as it's literally 2 minutes off Interstate 81. Great setting and facilities, variety of hole styles and lengths, scorecards and map at kiosk, open holes are really great for ripping it and great scenery of the mountains. Well marked football field on walk between holes 12 and 13 allows you to measure your drives.

Cons:

Not a ton of elevation change, but if you want that just head over to Golden Hills (30min drive away). Leaves in fall can lead to lost disks, would be nice to see tee pads as this course is of the caliber to deserve them.

Other Thoughts:

Loved playing this course, definitely recommended!!

Homer Review 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 2, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Park setting is top notch. Various different types of holes and shots. Holes 10-16 are a great stretch of holes using natural land features as obstacles. The front 9 is technical and wooded. Gorgeous park with pool, bathrooms, water, pavilions(rental is really cheap), food in the summer. Hole 14 is one of the prettiest holes and a lot of locals favorites.

Cons:

A couple long walks to avoid some existing park features (soccer/football field, road/barbwire fence). Favorite hole #16 first two-thirds in open to a landing zone, then 220 or so through the woods.

Other Thoughts:

Challenging course for all skill levels. Virtually no briers on the course. Natural Tee pads in the field Stone tee pads in the woods are done. Blue Tees are in and all have stone pads in the woods Natural in the field. Installed new teepads and raked/tamped teepads. Changes to a few holes should be done by June. New course Signage to be installed by June.

couldn't make up it's mind 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 20, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

very nice park, multiple amenities(pool)
hole 14
tee signs and paths from hole to hole

Cons:

woods holes need fairway definition, could lose a disc in the leaves
felt some holes were to long 6, 13, 16
Walks from 10-11 and 12-13 and 14-15 almost all football field lengths

Other Thoughts:

The park is an awesome park with almost everything you could want. The course needs work. Fairways need definition(7 was good). The length i feel is overall off, holes like 6, 13, 16 current lengths are more fitting for a longer set of tees. The distance between holes could have one or two holes in them, holes 12 and 13 literally had a football field in between them. hole 15 and 16 have a cow field on the left side with an electric fence so watch your throw. and if the retention ponds have water in them there could be some serious water hazards. I really liked hole 14 though.
