A great place to play! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 24, 2017 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- An amazing variety for a fairly small footprint. Holes 1, 2, and 12 are open and only require that you can accurately judge distance. Starting with 4 you are in the woods and need a mix of distance, hyzer/anhyzer, and accuracy.
- Good pacing. The course really flows well and each hole ends near the next tee.
- Secluded location. Only one hole runs along a street and it's a low traffic neighborhood road. Aside from football practice, you'll probably not see anyone but other players. And the course does see a fair bit of traffic so you won't be alone either.
- Challenging but fair. An experienced player can expect a 2 on all but one or two holes. A new player can expect fours and fives the whole way. The course shows you a lot of different looks in shaping and distance, but there are no blind shots or those annoying holes with a tree 10' in front of the tee in your path.
- Low risk of lost discs. I've thrown over the fence onto the football field a few times, and once onto the baseball field on 10. The gates are locked when not in use so you will need to hop the fence, but otherwise even a beginner should leave with all they came with.

Cons:

- The course could use a bit of attention. Tee pads are just dirt, and some of them are eroding away badly. Number 12 is the worst, you can twist an ankle if you use the provided pad. We just tee from the side of it, but you are still throwing from a sidehill position.
- A few signs are missing and have been for some time. The posts and/or sign holders are still there (other than 10) so you won't miss your spot however. On hole 10 there is a worn dirt patch in the grass for the tee so again it's obvious, but only if you know the tee is by the telephone pole.
- Forget playing here when school is letting out. Being a school course it's normal that it's closed during school hours, but in this case the parking by tee 1 is the student pick up area. They route cars through the parking spaces, so if you happen to park there you will disrupt their whole system. It takes a long time for this area to clear out after school, sometimes nearing 5pm.

Other Thoughts:

I love this course! I want to rate it higher as it's quality relative to the intended audience is probably a 4+. The design is genius and should be a model for other designers facing similar space constraints.

While this is clearly targeting the newer player, I've seen groups of skilled players out here frequently. They are throwing two on near every hole but they are having a great time doing it. Some of the holes require a very precise and well shaped tee shot for birdie.

I think everyone should visit this when in the area. You can expect to round in under an hour if moving at an average and leisurely pace.

Decent Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 19, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good course for middle schoolers to learn the game. Has some holes that wrap around the woods in the back. Is close to Northwestern DGC.

Cons:

The grass on some of the holes is not cut regularly. The tee sign for #10 is missing.

Other Thoughts:

This course is not open to the public during school hours.

Great Beginner Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 11, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Short, but tests skills for all players

Cons:

-Can not play during school hours
-Can be hard to find tee boxes, due to the hole numbers being in the ground
-Maintenance is spotty due to it being a school course
-Cross Country trail runs through part of the course

Other Thoughts:

This course serves all ages and play types, but Beginners will find it the most challenging. Adv. and Pro players can enjoy working on their short game and testing new discs here.
