Longer But More Interesting Than The South Course! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 16, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

The North course plays the first 10 through the desert shrub before meandering back to the greener, more developed side for the final 8. These 8 holes included # 11, a 278 ft. island hole, which I consider the signature on this course.

The North course features the same great concrete tee pads, the same new DGA baskets and the same great tee signs. Like the South course, there are no signs of any vandalism anywhere on this course and very little litter to be found. Matter of fact, I have been most impressed with all the Phoenix area courses I've played this weeek thus far as I've encountered ZERO signs of any vandalism on any of the courses I've played.
The North course, IMO, had a little more personality than the South. # 3 teeing off from atop a small elevated hill and having a basket placed beneath some trees in some cool eroded dry creekbeds made for an interesting hole. # 4 had a cool elevated basket! I thought that 14, 16 and 17 all were more interesting than all those straight throws on South.

Cons:

I wanted to played the harder North course first this morning (when the weather was cooler and I wasn't as tired). But the local directions say "Park at the end of the Parking Lot." Didn't help me a bit! Would whoever is in charge of this course and this page please add that the first tee pad for the North course is approx. 200 ft. straight our behind the restrooms. Wouldv'e have me a lot! I only found the North course as I was
finishing the South.

Navigation was more difficult than the South. I never found the # 7 basket and then it took me forever to figure out that # 11 (my favorite) was clear over there. I walked back and forth between the basket and tee pad 2-3 times trying to find my way.
Unattractive setting (desert scrub), flat, windy, straight, etc.

Other Thoughts:

Although I wasn't thrilled with this course either, I felt that the four holes on the back nine as well as a couple of more interesting ones on the front nine really saved the course's rating for me. This is a course that I was quite happy to play once this morning and I'll be perfectly content not to throw my discs here again anytime soon.
