Decent, but not blown away 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 17, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Finding the next basket was pretty easy. Course seemed to flow well.

- Baskets and tee pads were well maintained. No graffiti or those stupid "disc chargers" written on the benches.

Cons:

- Signage is terrible after the first few holes. The first few holes all have nice layout maps at the tee pad, but a majority seemed to be missing. Had to walk down to find the basket before throwing a few times.

- Some tee pads were numbered incorrectly (the ninth tee is labeled 8), but luckily we were able to ask some locals for help when we needed it.

- Several fairways are in desperate need of mowing. Spent a pretty good amount of time looking for discs that landed in the fairway because the grass is so tall in some places.

Other Thoughts:

- Plays long. Not really a pro or con, but I felt like there wasn't much mix of distance. In my opinion, great courses mix short, med, and longish par 3s, but I felt like I was throwing a driver/fairway driver on most tees (and we played the "short" tees.)

- Took us about 3 hours to finish with a group of 4

- For this to be such a highly rated courses I wasn't very impressed. I'll definitely be checking out some of the other courses in the area.

Ok course 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Fun Course in a nice park. Easy to find. You can tell alot of thought was put int some of the holes, while other's left me scratching my head.

Cons:

Signage was terrible. Hard to find tees and baskets. But my biggest Con was hole 18 and really left a bad taste in my mouth for this course. We were there on a busy Friday night and it was full of volleyball players. I understand that we have to share the course with others so that in and of itself is not a problem. The problem is that the last hole is designed so you are throwing over and at a parking lot. There is also a huge ditch in the fairway and there are no real signs stating how deep and dangerous this chasm is.

Other Thoughts:

I liked the course overall but after playing Hornets and Nevins this was by far the weakest.

Too much for me. :-( 2+ years drive by

Pros:

A long and challenging course layout will build your shot making skills if you play here consistently. It's cool and easy to differentiate between the original course and the gold course. I travelled 3 hours north to play it with my buddies based on the positive press received here.

Cons:

I hate to slam the place that everyone seems to love so much, but I just want to put it out there for people playing in the future.

The fairways and almost all of the grass needed to be cut very badly. The tee signage was OK, but the next-T stuff was generally terrible. It seemed that additional holes were being moved or added and this created a lot of confusion even among the groups of locals we encountered.

Lots of thorns/thistle and dense underbrush off the fairways caused several people (including locals) to complain very vocally about being cut, etc.

And dare I say it, but the ravine on hole 18 is simply dangerous. If playing with younger kids - watch out. It's not visible until you are right up on it and falling down it would definitely hurt someone.

Other Thoughts:

This course is hard. I'm not listing that as a pro or con because everyone has a different sort of game and expectations about what they are looking to achieve. I know if kicked my butt good (I shot a 70 on the original course). I lost 2 discs due to errant throws - again not a con as that was my fault. This course rewards accurate play. If you can't throw it where you want it, you will pay.

I like the course on a certain level, I really do. I've just played other courses that I enjoyed a lot more.
