Two Good Holes and Seven Others

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 10, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Holes 3 and 6:

Hole 3 is an interesting little downhill RHBH turnover. At only 202 feet it's not hard to get to it distance wise but the trees and more importantly the branches have other ideas. The river is rushing hard on the left and any RHBH shot that comes out early or hyzers off could potentially be in there and this comes to mind. With an elevated tee pad to a basket in a valley it's important to keep it low AND hit the line you're looking for was the ceiling is quite low. There is a left and a right gap with both being RHBH turnovers with different degree's of left ot right turn. Well thought out hole that I threw at with all the putters I had on me.

Hole 6 is listed at only 147 feet but plays both up hill as a low ceiling/slight tunnel shot that also throws across and over the raging river running through the course. This is a fun but slightly nervous throw with much risk to be had. It's somewhat difficult to both throw uphill and keep it under the ceiling and away from the bushes on the left and right.

Cons:

Holes 1, 2, 4, and 5 are very short and open holes that are not challenging for just about anyone. There is limited space here and the designers went for these short holes to get the amount in that they could and keep it friendly to new players which I understand but also it's uninteresting. Holes 7 through 9 are wide open and longer holes, two if which are over 400 feet. I don't mind one maybe but three in a row to finish the round is just blah. With not much to challenge you to shape shots or hit lines or punish your bad throws bogeys here are unheard of and many birdies are to be had. Good for the high schoolers who go to school here and their families but bad for someone looking for a real course to play.

Other Thoughts:

A fun way to play hole 3 is to tee off from the tee pad for hole 1, this makes the hole a lot more challenging and a lot more risky and fun with the river really being in play. Ditto for throwing to hole 6's basket from hole 4 or 5's tee pad. Makes for two really fun, difficult and scary throws. Overall this isn't a bad round, it's easy to follow, easy to play, and easy to score well. A decent introductory course for new players who may want to skip hole 6 if just starting out. If you're close and have 20 minutes I'd say at least play 1-6 and then you can choose if you wanna move on to the next course or not.
