3 Time Playing. 1st time from Blues 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 15, 2019 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Awesome course! My third time playing it. It's a lot of fun! Well constructed course and easy to follow. Highly recommend you bring your discs and take time to play!

Cons:

Lots of trees, high shrubs, and poison ivy everywhere. Hard to find a disc if you go off the fairway.

Other Thoughts:

Play it if you are on the island!! Lovely walk and fun outing on a beautiful island!

Home Field 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 8, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great variety! Red, White, and Blue courses ( 54 holes ). White and Blue share baskets. Some holes to stretch your arm. The Red course is tightly wooded and will test your accuracy. Lots of new tee pads have been installed. Course is easy to navigate.

Cons:

Not a lot of elevation change, no water hazards, and a fair amount of poison ivy.

Beautiful Island Disc Golf 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 13, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

OVERALL FUN FACTOR (16% weight) - 5 - A very fun course!
COURSE DESIGN (14% weight) - 5 - Great layout with good use of elevation and natural features of the land. The blue and white tees are very different from each other which is great.
SIGNS/MAPS/MARKERS (11% weight) - 5 - Had no trouble finding any holes. course map sign, each tee is well marked, baskets well marked and "next tee" arrow signs are key.
SCENIC BEAUTY (8% weight) - 5 - Even though there aren't any water holes this was one of the most beautiful courses i've played yet. And there are a lot of artistic elements thrown into the landscaping. You can tell the local players here really love this course.
BASKETS (5% weight) - 3.5 - baskets in good condition. I liked the home made practice basket.
EPIC HOLES (5% weight) - 5 - Loved hole 5 where you have to throw over the tops of some tall spruce tree stumps. One had a voodoo doll stuck to the top of it there to taunt you as you prepare to tee off.
DISTANCE VARIETY (5% weight) - 5 - Excellent variety
SHOT VARIETY (5% weight) - 5 - course is designed to have you tee off using all different shot types. Plenty of trouble you can get into also that will force creative throws.
FOLIAGE MAINTENANCE (3% weight) - 4.5 - It looks to be kept up very well.
BENCHES / TRASH BINS (3% weight) - 3 - Quite a few benches and bag stands. A couple trashcans on the course were quite full.
MIX OF TIGHT AND OPEN (3% weight) - 4.5 - a very good mix of tight and open holes
OVERALL CHALLENGE (3% weight) - 4 - Not sure it woudl be all that challanging for an upper level player. I think I'll shoot better the next time I play here for sure.
CROWDED? (3% weight) - 4 - I was there on a midweek afternoon and not too many others. I heard that weekends it's not too bad at all.

Cons:

TEE PADS (8% weight) - 2 - Tees are inconsistent: some natural, some gravel, some rubber.
ELEVATION (8% weight) - 2 - flat on almost every hole, but they made use of it where they could.
PARKING (2% weight) - 2.5 - not much of a parking lot and it's a pull off from one of the "busier" roads on the island. But I actually took the bus, so it wasn't an issue. Public trans on MV is excellent.

Other Thoughts:

Martha's Vineyard is an awesome place. If you have a chance to visit make some time for this course.

Gotta love The MV DG Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 25, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very well laid out, 27 holes, underbrush isn't as bad as most places, friendly people -- especially the guy who runs the local league and disc shop, Jake Gifford. Awesome guy to play as many rounds as possible with. The MVDGC is an all around phenomenal course to play... There is something for everyone. Favorite course to date.

Cons:

Weather of the island -- can get really windy. Poison ivy can be bad if allergic and ticks seem to be a problem. But Jake might be talkin' some people into putting some turkeys on the course. lol

Other Thoughts:

Make sure not to pass up this course if possible. And in my opinion, the Red 9 -- that ends at regular 10, is better than regular 9. So don't pass up playing the reds. (starts in between white 1 and blue 1 -- red sign.) And as Jake would say, RIBBIT!
