Sink or swim 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 29, 2019 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Decent variety in hole type for a small course.
Hole 3 features a nice shot from hilltop to hilltop.
Summer breezes and wildflower swamps make for a beautiful setting.
Right next to Cornell campus.
Constant threat of losing your disc leads to rapid improvements in accuracy.

Cons:

Large tangles of plants along edges of fairways make retrieving discs a test of physical and mental fortitude.
Last 3 holes heavily feature swamps as OB and are full of head-high plants and shin-deep muck. Make sure your throws are air tight.
High grass is mowed infrequently, making it possible to lose your disc on the fairway.

Other Thoughts:

Course gets the job done if you're looking to sneak in a quick hour of disc. The hole layout does not lend itself to beginners, as one errant throw can end up with a 15 minute tromp in the woods or swamp hunting for the disc. The woods are also full of poison ivy, thorny bushes, and vines, so bring a machete and some calamine lotion if you can't throw straight. (I say this having learned the hard way).

decent college course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 30, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Good use of elevation, especially on holes 3 and 7.

- Signage was very helpful, and keeps first-timers from getting lost.

-Baskets were in good shape

-It was nice to have a relatively long hole at the end of the course (hole 9 - 365 ft), after most holes were pretty short.

Cons:

-Rubber tee pads are slippery and sometimes unreliable.

-Layout was not all that creative, mostly consisted of left to right medium length shots. Also, the walk from 8 to 9 is pretty long. You basically play hole and and backtrack past the fairway to get to hole 9.

Swampy area on 8 and 9 wasn't a big deal, but i can imagine it's quite a pain during the summer.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, this is not a bad course to stop by if you're already in the area, although i would not recommend going out of your way to play it. It serves a good enough purpose as a college 9 hole course.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 9, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-Great use of elevation, shots off of and up to.

-Reconfigured from the 9 into a 12 with rubber pads and Kiosk added.

Cons:

-Potentially hard to follow without a guide (i dont think there is a map yet)
-Some cattail swampiness to deal with
-Not mowed in the summer so grass can get a bit ridiculous
-Hole 2's basket got mangled somehow (vandalism by college students or by god)
-Three baskets disconnected to the nine basket loop could be hard to find with out a guide.
-Lamest of landowners on the border of the course
-Not many trees coming into play
-Mostly shorter holes

Other Thoughts:

This course is a nice contrast to the other 9 hole course in Ithaca (Belle Sherman) and they are relatively close to each other.
Popular for Dog walkers and sledding
This course has also seen some improvement, and there is potential for expansion to 18 according to the Kiosk
Worth playing if you have a guide or patience (although the new 9 loop is fairly intuitive) but if your looking for more substance then head to TC3
