Rocking the Poconos 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 1, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Private course with 18 DisCatcher baskets and two tees on most holes provides good challenge for rec to advanced level players. The course is quite scenic and has tremendous variety playing downhill and uphill shots, through the woods and open and over the ravine and pond. Overall the design and build are very well done and utilized all the great and unique features of the property. The course was very well manicured and didn't notice much underbrush in the woods. Signage and navigation is pretty good here. Two loops of 9 holes back to parking lot.

Cons:

The decked tees(about half) while they look nice and functional are actually quite slippery, I played in light rain and it was like ice, so I just tee'd off next to them. The rest of the tees are natural, some of which are a bit rough. I talked to the camp director about the tee issues and he said they will be addressed.

Hole 4's fairway was a giant puddle most the way.

Other Thoughts:

Driving in the neighborhood to Rock Mountain I was awestruck by the beauty here, the homes with pristine landscaping and picturesque vista views of the Poconos is simply stunning! I was also terrified on a couple of the dirt/gravel roads going up and down mountains in the rain, but proved to be well worth the effort!

I'd rate Rock Mountain 3.75 if I could. The variety and scenery is awesome! The course is a little on the short side except for a couple monster holes and the tee issues kept me from going to a 4 rating. It be nice if some of the shorter holes could have longer tees or basket placements(holes 3, 6, 10, 11 and 13). That's just my personal preference, but overall this is a fantastic course!

Pros:

-Large variety of holes for all skill levels.
-Easy to navigate.
-Clean.

Cons:

-The course is brand new and some tees are still natural.
-The holes that do have tees are constructed using trex decking material and are somewhat slippery.

Other Thoughts:

Well worth that trip and i will definitely be headed back.
